Ad-Aware 6.0 Pro is what I use, as well as SpyBot Search & Destroy, Browser HiJack Blaster, and McAfee Virus Scan. |

Go to this site and run their Virus scanners:

I use it even though I already have a virus scanner(sophos) installed. It never hurts to check your PC with another scanner.
If this is the first time you scan your PC, you'll have to download the ActiveX controls (a technology that allows ActiveScan to be run on your computer).
This download size is 8 MB.
You can also try the free anti-virus software that some people swear by it:
AVG
You can use the full features for upto 30 days. |

Quoting naraku KOTB | 3000 viruses |
Option 1
Spend 2 days running every adware, spyware, malware, anti-trojan, anti-virus program known to man and still miss the 20% that need to be removed via 'specialist anti-specific-virus' programs to save you from accidentally destroying your PC....
Option 2
format c:
Install Windows.
Back up and running within the hour. |

Have you tried running Spybot or Adaware in Safe mode? That can get rid of some nasties before your Windows boots up.
I use Adaware, Spybot and AntiVir and I have never had any bad problems. Every once in a while, AntiVir will pick up a nastie on a weekly sweep and Spybot informs me of any changes made to the registry and gives me the chance to block them. |

And I strongly recommend NOT to rely on only 1 application! lol
www.majorgeeks.com has plenty of Anti-Spyway/Anti-Virus programs..... Just download about 50 of em
That PrevX looks good though! lol
I may have to "purchase " the full thing
I have the full version of PrevX Pro 2005...... And well..... You can't scan for viruses and such?! lol, it only prevents new ones from entering................. Also, there have been MANY complaints about the Pro version of PrevX, I found a lot of forums where it thinks that ProcessGuard, and other apps. are attacking the host pc.
PrevX Home is the best bet I guess..... |
