Posted Nov 26th, 05:24am by General_187
Quake 4 Demo is out and ready for all of you kids to play! You can now determine if you want it to be on your christmas "wish-lists!" I am aware that this download is in the Mod's section of Quake 4. It will be fixed as soon as I talk to an admin. Big file!

The colour of the dots correspond with the coloured bars that make up the progress bar showing how much for the download has occurred.

Yeah, I got dropped like 9 times (cablemodem). The connection just wasn't that stable....it kept getting hung up. It may just be that there is a lot of static on the net between here and the UK today. At any rate, I appreciate your offering the download here....but I did just go download it somewhere else.

So, I played it for about 20 minutes. Kinda reminded me of Doom 3 with the graphics and the monster aliens....waypoint check-ins, mini-missions, etc. I've never played any of the other Quakes so I don't have a frame of reference....but this looks like single player is a yawn but this could be a cool environment for multiplayer.

Just finished playing the demo and I have to say, GO GREEN!!!!!!!

The green is due to graphic corruption. Try one of the following:
1)As a precaution make sure your system meets the minimum system requirements of the game.

2)Make sure you have the latest video and sound card drivers from the manufacturers' websites.

3)Set your desktop to a resolution of 800x600, 32 bit True Color.
1) Right-click on your desktop and select Properties.
2) Click the Settings tab.
3) Set your screen area to 800x600.
4) Set the colors to 32 Bit (True Color). Under Windows NT this will be listed as 65554 colors.
5) Click Apply and OK.

4) All background applications must be shutdown prior to running the game.

5) Turn the hardware acceleration for your sound card to Basic.
1) Click the Start button >Settings >Control Panel.
2) Double-click on the Multimedia icon.
3) Select the Audio tab.
4) Click on the Advanced Properties button in the Playback section.
5) Click on the Performance tab.
6) Reduce the Hardware acceleration to Basic, the 2nd notch from the left.
7) Click Apply and then OK 2 times. Run the game now. Don't forget to turn the acceleration back up to restore the high-end features for your sound card when using other applications.

NOTE: For Windows XP
1) Click the Start button >Settings >Control Panel.
2) Double-click the Sounds and Audio Devices icon.
3) Click the Volume tab.
4) Under Speaker settings, click the Advanced button.
5) Click the Performance tab. 6) Reduce the Hardware acceleration to Basic, the 2nd notch from the left.
7) Click Apply and then OK 2 times. Run the game now. Don't forget to turn the acceleration back up to restore the high-end features for your sound card when using other applications.

That game is just GREAT! I love it!!
Much better than the Doom3 or Fear demo! The sound is outstanding, best I've ever heard. Quake4 has almost got the same game feeling as Red Faction has. Theres just everything darker and spooky (which I don't like that much)
But right after the first projectiles left my gun I was amazed how smooth the game runs. Often I don't get the feeling that the weapons are real weapons...I can't explain it, but when I shoot that machine gun I don't want to stop shooting. The sound of it is too cool.

I have tested the singleplayer - and multiplayer map(s) over 5 times. I think the MP plays very close to the Red Faction MP games (and some weapons and items even looks like Red Factions). Just with other weapons and darker...less eye friendly maps. But what are the level and mod editors for?

I didn't think the game would run that fast on my computer. Only with (dynamic) shadows turned on my computer starts dying.

lol I love that Intro cutscene...I would definitaly buy that game, its just that there are NO BOTS supported. That game is exellent. But
NfsMW would keep up the offline fun for a longer time.
