If you're asking why didn't they use the FEAR bullettime engine that's because it requires a more powerful PC to run it. Monolith created their Bullettime engine from scratch with a high end PC and added in all kinds of cool effects like sound tape warping at the cost of performance. Remedy could have upped the bullettime engine a lot more, but I think they wanted people who had low grade machines to be able to enjoy MP2 just as much as somebody with a high grade machine. Because most people who were gonna play MP2 were still using the same PC that they used when they played MP1. So to make MP2 completely high end like FEAR would drop many sales. Sales are what it's all about. Since FEAR didn't have a fan base to start with, they made the game extremely high end to create a fan base.

Kungfu didn't take off in MP2 because in order to make it useful you would have to mod the enemies to fight back with their hands. The enemies in MP2 were only created to shoot at you. Making them fight would take a lot more work then just giving Max his own KungFu skills like in MP1. In MP1 if you disarmed an enemy or if the enemy only had a pipe to hit you with then they would come at you. Then you could use that KungFu. But in MP2 the enemies never run out of ammo. If you make them drop their weapons by way of script they keep firing at you as if they had a weapon in their hand. It's pretty lame of Remedy to do this to us, but that's why they're not gonna make MP3. Because they suck. To get the baddies to attack requires a lot of text editing and some good animations. I am going to try to incorporate some of this into my mod Violently Enhanced because I have a Katana Blade Fighting System but there's never anybody around who will run up to me. All of the baddies just sit tight and fire wave after wave of bullets at me which is ok because I've tweaked the Katana system and the bullettime settings to allow you to get closer to them easier. But still it would be nice if they ran at me with a melee weapon because not everybody would be completely ready to shoot at you. Sometimes they may have to pick up a pipe or something. So I'm gonna make some of the baddies run up to you and try to attack you with a melee weapon of some kind. Sure you could just shoot them, but then you wouldn't have anybody to play swords with. It'll be up to you.

Wall jumping should definitely not be included in MP3. That's just too unrealistic, like I said Max isn't the Prince of Persia, so he can't wallrun or walljump or leap far distances. But he can climb ladders or ropes, dangle and chimmey ( I think that's how it's spelled), or even do some badass police trained hand to hand combat. He's not a KungFu master, we all know that by now. But he's a hardboiled, tough as nails cop. They should work with that idea. Give him some grappling moves and some NY street fighter skills.

Aha, finally someone that is making some sense. All of that sounds very nice. I would love to see a hand to hand combat system alongside with weapons combat, why not spice up the action?

Thank you for the complement. I do wish that MP had more melee combat. That's why I'm adding melee combat into my TC Violently Enhanced for MP2. It will let you do battle with a Katana Blade. I know that it isn't very unrealistic but it's a lot of fun seeing Max fight that way. And plus it's a huge mod, not MP3. So it's ok and plus that's the kind of combat I wanted. Slicing people is fun.

It would be nice if MP3 would have that realtime shadowing and dynamic lightning effects

And of course little better ragdolls. Im not saying that Mp2 ragdolls were bad its just that when they keep bouncing.

I totally agree that Max Payne aint PoP and cant do that unrealistic stuff, but he is that kind of character that would jump off one building to another barely making it, just jumping fearless and not giving a damn. Also not kung fu, but as u said a grappling system. Like the one in The Punisher game by THQ, not as violent and exaggerated but similar.
Err, uumh.. AAAH, What the HECK!!
U TRY and think of a good signature!!

I agree perwer, but still he shouldn't be able to wall jump like you said before. But your right about his personality. He would take chances, so a running long jump would help him to jump from building to building like an extremely tough police officer. That would be cool and real.

A better lighting engine would give life to the game. That's definitely needed. A system similar to Call of Duty 2's suped up Doom 3 lighting engine. That works wonders.

Better ragdolls are definitely needed. My TC Violently Enhanced MP2 will include the best ragdolls that I have ever seen for MP2. They are so good that they rival Hal-Life 2's ragdolls. I'm being comepletely serious. Check it out for yourself when I release. They were developed by a guy who has done nothing more then tweak the ragdoll system since MP2 was released and he got so good that he created a system that looked so freaking real. I had to have them in my mod and with his permission I got them. But they were still to heavy so they tended to fly around a lot with small weapons fire. So I tweaked them further to get rid of this problem and I also made them a lot more limp and bendable. They are now superb. I promise you they are.

VG, are your ragdolls realistic as in heavy? In other words, when they get hit by a grenade, do they just go in the air for a brief amount of time?

Well of course they fly around a bit when hit by explosions but what I mean by realistic, is they bend their joints enough to look real but not fake at all. I mean they end up in very real positions like in real life. They have that limp dirty laundry look that real dead bodies have. They slam into pillars properly and jiggle and spin around as if they really slammed into a pillar with the lower half of their body. They are perfect. I mean as perfect as MP2 ragdolls can get. And they really do rival HL2's system. HL2's system was a bit too tight and not limber enough. A lot of the time they would end up in similar positions. With the ragdolls in my TC you can have 60 bodies laying around and not one of them will look the same.

Here's a pic of some possible positions with my TC's ragdoll system.

I know. I was blown away by them even before I tweaked them further to meet my needs. Now they're just jaw dropping as you can see. Good Ol' Scotty sure does know his MP2 ragdolls doesn't he. That's who I got the ragdolls from. With my help... he could be the best. LOL

I finally found what I was looking for.

Max Payne 3 Announced!
Jeffrey Lapin, CEO of Take2Games recently announced that a further Max Payne game will be published by their subsidary Rockstar Games. Speaking at a recent conference, Lapin confirmed the rumours by stating"There'll be another Max Payne"

Rockstar is gonna publish it again, they just haven't announced the creator, or at least I can't find it. I got the quote from http://www.maxpaynegaming.com/index.php an older site that got shutdown.

I wonder who the creator will be...any good developers anyone?

That's music to my ears. I could name about 10 different developers that could pull this game off, but none of them will be used. I'm sure it'll be some developing company that you least expect. Hopefully at least it'll be a well known developer.

I want max payne 3 to be longer mainly. Also i want some newer more original and specialised weaponry as seen in some of the mods. Also it would help if the game file wasn't too huge (around 2gb max) as if it is it will lag and also slow down computers in general.

Bullettime could be improved slightly and maybe more special moves and stuff during bullettime; such as a new shootdodge.

It's a small thing but instead of using a white bullet trail during bullettime that is made from a particle effect, the bullets should be followed with a motion blur line coming from the gun, like when celerity is on in Vampire Bloodlines.

Is this possible in MP2?
