Quote | The two biggest fundamental differences between Halo 2 on Xbox and the forthcoming Vista version, will be map customization and matchmaking. Both of those are at such an early stage that we genuinely don't have much to say. We (and "we" includes the MS development team, featuring stars from Forza, NFL Fever and even Doom!) have loads of ideas and plans, and we'll see how those work out.
Mapmaking is something that we'd like to have fun with, and the trick is finding a balance between the super-easy Far Cry or Radiant (for Quake 3 or Doom 3) and the incredibly powerful (but occasionally tough) Unreal editor. We'll just have to see.
Lots of questions about things like adding vehicles and levels – the latter we'll leave up to you, but the former, we spent months and months testing all our vehicles and weapons for a balance that we felt worked best. That meant that if a weapon or vehicle didn't work, it was excised for a reason, so don't expect us to simply dump stuff like the Mongoose back in there. That's not in the plan.

Source: Bungie Weekly Whats Update
Well, fun is going to happen. By the Halo 2 comes out Vista, Ill have the money for a rig to make maps for both UT2k4, UT2k7 AND Halo 2, and OMFG, I have some nasty ideas for maps. When it comes to designing the maps though within an editor, I suggest as closely as possible to Unreal Editor. UED is tough for someone new to it, but omg, it is nice. What you can do with a map within just one program (unlike alot of other editors that require third party programs liek Halo's Sapien requires 3DS Max) such as UED, hehehe. If Bungie and MS made an editor similar to UED, there will be some NICE maps to come out.
Garner, looks like you got another section to add that would be popular. Ditch UT2k3 for Halo 2 |

What about RED? Maby not the most powerful but the most user-friendly, except for the bug list which if put into a text file would take a chunk out of my harddrive.
Nonetheless still IMO the best level editor.
But I am glad to see H2 on windows, and with today's gaming industry, a level editor is a must. |

RED has limitations to what you can do. |

doh so much for "halo 2 will never ever come out on pc"
Halo 3 is out on xbox soon anyway, and i dont think it would be too good of a pc game.
