I'm currentley on the look out for a new computer to replace my 3 year old laptop with a battery that is no more. What should i look at to be buying? My budget is in the region of £600 - £1000.

you could possibly scrape a Alienware for that cash. Which would be pretty sweet.

you could build one yourself?

If you need help with that I can help out
Is it just for you, or for your family too?

More specifics, Gaming? Office? Perspecific uses... etc...

Does your budget include keyboard, mouse, monitor and other peripherals? or is it just for the tower and what's inside? If it is the latter then for that sort of cash you're gonna have a wicked PC

You can take a look at these specs,

My school wants me to build 20 of those! And as a profit from it all, they are ordering an extra for me to have, in payment of building all the pcs! How wicked is that! lol YAY for the BFG 7900GTX

I would recommend a nice custom build really, if you can find a nice cheap online store in your area, that would work well.

sobe, I might have missed it but in all those screen shots that I saw. Not one page contained an operating system.
Plus newegg.com doesn't ship to the UK.

Assuming he already has a Windows XP disk for his current PC that doesn't matter

However, $3034.70 is a little more than £1000!!! I'd say ur looking at more like $1700-$1900

Frank, I have legit copies of Windows 3.1, 95, 98, 98se, and XP Pro. I plan to use WinXP Pro for all of them. But yea, thanks for picking apart the specs

A nice cheap vid card that I could recommend would be the 6600GT, and if you have a bit more, the 6800GT! It all depends on the budget you have for your pc pretty much.

No, dont do that. Where abouts in the UK you from? I bought a 20 inch flat screen Dell CRT monitor froma place in Oldham for 90 quid. It's redundant now as I've replaced it with a widescreen LCD jobby. You can either buy my monitor or go to the same place I did. I'll be putting mine on Ebay hoping to get around 40-50 quid for it. It's a damn good (huge) monitor
