The next feature in the BF2 universe shall be Battlefield 2142 which be a futuristic combat zone with advnaded rifiles and MECHS 
"Hi BF fans,
Today we have some really big news to share with you. The more sniper-eyed of you out there will probably already know, but we're currently hard at work developing "Battlefield 2142", which is scheduled for release this Autumn. As you'll have guessed, this is a departure for the BF series as we're going into the future - something that a lot of you wanted to see happen in the BF universe. We're creating a ton of cool features that you won't have seen in any BF before, including cloaking devices, mines that follow you, awesome new rifles, guns and grenades, and of course, MECHS! We're developing this here in DICE Stockholm while the DICE Canada studio will be hard at work on a 1.3 update for Battlefield 2, as well as the Armoured Fury Booster Pack.
There'll be an "official" press release later on this week but we know that you guys need to know first. Stay tuned and we'll keep you posted on how 2142 is coming along.

saw the trailor last night, and i must admit, its a gamble. i mean, with the likes of Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter out soon on the PC, i don't think it can be such a sucess like Battlefield 2 is. I may be wrong, but who knows????? |

Still playing BF1942... BF2 dropped by the way side... a lack of bots in coop mode in BF2 makes LAN gaming really boring unless you can squeeze 16 mates and their PC's into your lounge.
Hopefully whichever idiot made the decision to drop that feature from BF2 has been fired and someone with at least 2 braincells has been hired to replace them for BF2142.
Doesn't have quite the same appeal that year... I keep thinking of Earth 2150 for some reason... |

Yeah I saw the trailer a while ago, and this looks so very, very awesome.
I remember having a great time playing the old mechwarrior games back in the day, and from what I've seen in the trailer - BF Mechs are going to be sweeet! |

Any idea what smoke grenades are any good? The ones from the paintball place near me were total crap, im sure you can get decent ones online right?
