Figured they can suck people in to paying monthly because they already have a huge fan base from their previous success... I must admit it's definately a winning formula though, and it seems people will pay the money There's been rumours of another Diablo game for a while, so I wouldn't be surprised if we start hearing about World of Diablo some time next year.
