Me and my freinds are maknig a movie before we get out of school. The plot has to do with two characters going back in time and witnessing or changing events in the past (sort of like History of the World movie)
We need help thinking of scenes that would be funny.
(we have one where we go back in time and tick off thomas edison  ) |

how about a 12-year=old girl goes back in time to about 10-15 years ago, and erm... "Hooks up" with a guy thats her age, called say.... something Smith. then when she gets back, in about a month or two she meets this guy who she falls right in love with, and later when they are both like 25, their kid finds an old photo album and sees his mom with his fathers mother that would be confusing. |

A time travel movie you say? Two characters witnessing / changing events you say? This sounds awfully familiar, I just can't put my finger on it...
But I digress.
Why don't you have you characters take an Xbox 360 to the 1980s and sell it to the USSR so that they crush Nintendo and Atari. That way they will win the console war and become a superpower (or not). |

yeah it is alot like that movie . except we are using a dodge spirit for a time machine . (we're origional  )
In the Thomas Edison scene we go back in time and are messing around in his shop when he's working on the light bulb ... during all this he is miffed because he tried 1000's of ways to get his CENSORED lightbulb to work! anyways they leave because the guy is an arsehole and just before they leave they drop a flashlight which thomas edison steals. (which explains how thomas edison got the lightblub to work )
BTW the two charaters are male  ... so goober that wouldn't work ... the more i think of it the more it is like Bill and Ted's excellent adventure ... except theirs has a plot . |

well really, they could go to the future and do whatever they wanted to do, because when they go back to present time then it will have no effect, and when present time evolves into this time in the future, what you did in the future before will have no effect, so technically they could nuke the world in the future, leave and it wouldnt ever have an effect. |

actually no, it would have an effect ... even if the people who did it go back in time and return to their normal lives ... there will still be an incident in the future where two morons come out of the blue and nuke the world.
... I really hope you don't get a time machine ... ever.

No, if you blow up the world in the future, then come back at the EXACT same time you left, then it would be like you never left, and how could two morons go nuke the world, if youre that person and you are not going to do it... my point is, the future is not set, you make your own destiny, youre not destined to say...stub your toe in 3 seconds, you just do that because your an idiot.
get my point? you could go back in time, then come forward in time like a day before you went back in time then meet yourself and kill yourself, then you would ceese to exist, because if you killed you then how were you there to kill you?
theres a saying i heard somewhere:
"If you go back in time and kill your grandmother (before your father/mother were born) then you wouldnt exist, so who killed your grandmother?"
I mean just you being in the past, taking up that space would have some kind of effect on the future, now im going to say something stupid... bear with me...:
say you went back in time, tripped on a rock, then got mad and threw it into the sea, but your father was supposed to trip on that and fall in that sea, then your mother saved him, then they got married... but if you take that rock away then your father didnt fall, your mother didnt find him, so you dont exist, how are you there? your not... you would ceese to exist the exact instant that you touched that rock. but really, just you going into the past and breathing the air, that may be the last bit of air that was supposed to be in a air tight room that some guy needed to live, you breath that air, he doesnt get it, he dies... say this guy turned out to be president.. he died back then! so he isnt president, then some evil guy is elected, and destroys the world, all before you even went back in time, you just screwed up everything by breathing!

Germs!!!
We all carry them but we have a resistance to most of them because of constant exposure. However, expose someone from the past to our modern bugs and it would be fairly disasterous. A typical flu virus from someone today would cause an epidemic in the past and could potential kill millions. The Jedi's are gunna feel that one! |

Goober, if you went back before the blast(say you set a timer) then there would be no confliciting loop, time would mearly have a fold in one spot.

Though it would be funny to have the two characters arguing over that type of stuff.

What's wrong with that idea?
Your characters go back in time, infect people with a modern disease and everyone dies. They go back to the present time and discover they killed off 90% of the world's population and everyone is back living in caves and eating each other.
You wanted comedy didn't you. That's hilarious!!!!... but only from the view point of the germs LOL.
Ok.. how about this.
They don't physically go back in time because that would create all kinds of issues with meeting yourself which socially awkward... plus you might explode or something which isn't nice either.
Instead they send their minds back into their earier bodies.
The mind is basically a quantum computer according to many researches. They believe that even if the brain itself is dead, the quantum information may exist for awhile afterwards. However, a dead brain can't support it and so the quantum field containing the data just drifts away. There are a few who have suggested this is the source of near death experiences where you seem to be floating over your own body.
Anyway, that's just background information.
What these guys do is project that quantum information back in time into their earlier brains.. in fact they exchange minds.
Perhaps initially they just want to send back a single thought or idea... like they try to tell their earier self to buy shares in Yahoo like in that movie.. ummm... with the guy... and the other guy... anyway.. some movie I saw once.
They try to change a single event but it doesn't work and so they try to send their whole consciousness back so they have full control of their younger selves but it goes haywire.
Now all t his happens in a University where they were researching this stuff... or one of the guys was and his friend who is a total dweeb is the one who convinces him to do all this. Anyway, the professor overseeing the project realises the potential of the discovery and goes back and changes history for his own benefit... like starting a company like microsoft before Bill Gates could... hmmm.. in fact that would be to EVERYONE'S benefit LOL.
Now, they try to undo what the professor did but he went back further in time and these guys are too young. You cannot go back in time beyond your age range because there is no brain to send your consciousness back to. So they get some old bum off the street and convince him to go back and change one single thing to stop the professor guy and prevent the device they have been using from being craeted.
And... lets say that the professor guy had designed the device in the first place but never got it working until this particular student started working with him.
There is plenty of room for comedy with these guys going back in time again and again trying to chat up women by using different pickup lines one the same girl over and over. etc etc
How's that?
Oh and I want 10% of the box office takings and merchandise and a cameo appearance in the movie like Alfred Hitch CENSORED used to do LOL.
I even have the movie name worked out. Its called...

that movie was frequency... this guy talks to his father 30 years erlier through his old HAM radio. then he tells his friend to rwemember the word Yahoo and then his friend is rich... that movie has alot of folds in it, i mean, his father not dieing in a fire might mean that he wouldnt have the radio to begin with, so what is he talking on? |
