I would check to see if you have any programs to start when Windows starts.
Also, check a virus scanner or so. |

Memory wouldn't cause slowdown if all you're doing is downloading music, though I still think you should upgrade. When was the last time you defragmented your harddrive (for windows go to start, then program, accessories, sysem tools, disk defragmenter)? It helps organize files on the physical disk so they can be accessed much faster. |

Quoting naraku KOTB | im mostly going to be using it for downloading music. i have about 16 gigs in music but my computer is running real slow, especially during limewire and startups (take 5 minutes at the least) | Thats because all the spy-ware and adware limewire puts on your computer. That really does slow it down. |

I wouldn't say that "Limewire" puts on your pc, as I have used Limewire for years..... No spyware, etc.
Though, I suppose if you didn't know what you were looking for, and went to try to download 3ds max for 20MB or so and thought it was that small, and happen to dl and open it. Maybe it's a virus, maybe it's not, but I don't like not knowing how large something is. I normally search around for the size of the programs I download. |

Man do you have the wrong spy-ware detector. LIME WIRE is loaded with ad ware and spy ware. If you remove it, the program won't work. Why do I know this, because it happens when I install it then after I get what I want. I uninstall it and run web root and BOOM spy ware is found then removed. If I remove it(Spy ware) and try to use the program, it states that there are missing files and that I need to reinstall it.
LIME WIRE does waste a lot your PC's system's resources. |

I use McAfee, Spyware S&D, Ad-Aware Pro, eTrust Pest Patrol, and a few others.
Also, the files that are so-called adware that come with LimeWire are the tracker files. They will be detected by your machine as adware.
I use LimeWire Pro 4.10 if you wanted to know the version. |

I find that statement funny and I can't really tell you why. It breaks the forums rules . It's like using a virus to get access to a anti-virus program. |

Yea, its quite funny that you can download the full version of limewire - using the free version (NOTE: Am not impling that i do this and/or anyone should do this) <- just so i dont get in crap...
I only use Limewire for downloading music... which is NOT illegal. It is not against the law to download music for your own personal use. |

No, I'll have to ask my cousin He gave it to me on a burnt disk with some templates and scripts for websites. Wanted me to help him with it, and it happenned to be on there.... so... I took it
It is against the law if you don't own the music you download, anyway.
Moving on! |
