On names that is.  I was in a server a few hours back and I saw that this RF player was going to get kicked/banned for his name because apparently, to the Rcon holder it seemed "bad." How does a name like "Wonglong" get thrown in the ranks of being a bad "name" ? Not unless you have a perverted mind of some sort. To me it sounds like some old kung fu movie master or something. According to the Rcon holder, that rule was implemented by the server, but even so, being the rebel that I am, I didn't find it fit to kick a player when his name was blatantly not "bad." I could understand if it said "WongLongPenile" or something. I realize who the server belongs to though...those "Holier than thou" <L-S>, and my history with them was never great in the first place.
To my demise, now I am on a ban list for several servers, ladies and gentlemen. Talk about a good way to come back into RF.  I got to play only in servers where people of L4Y play, which is where I don't got to experience this crap.
So yeah, what are your thoughts on names?  |

Wonglong sounds fine to me.. It may have been because he was smurfing (not using his known name) that he was banned.. Some people have things to hide.. (Mod in the past, cause havoc in servers ect)
The worst thing about people with names is.. Ones who choose to invite themselves into clans they are not actually apart of and use mods in public servers to make out the entire clan usually plays this way.. Or even just copying somebodies name who plays oftenly ect.. |

I constantly find myself getting banned because of my name, and not just in RF either. I say any name is fine, especially since RF is rated mature. I'm not all for explicate language, but I think it should be expected in a game rated "M". If someone asks me to change my name in a teen rated game I'll gladly do it, but "M" rated games are not for kids and shouldn't have to have a kid-friendly enviroment.  |

I personally would not ban someone for using wonglong or assman. However, I do draw the line on racial epithets, or using the "F" bomb in your name, etc. I would ask them to leave or change their name, before kicking them. Just cuz it's rated Mature doesn't mean you have to be a total idiot. Having said that, it's up to each server to draw the line on what's acceptable in their server. |

well typically <L-S>bans people just for kicking their butts.. On rf my names JdS im banned from viper and from hav efun, just because one of the <L-S>'s was stuck up about me "modding" i really dont think ANYONE BUT the server should have rcon unless there really is a modder, and for the name, i have no problems with it, does sound like some japan guy or somethin, anyway jsut thought ide post my thoughts. 
BTW im not saying all <L-S>is bad, most of them are pretty cool, like bender and marc n Dr tran their all pretty good.. so im not bad mouthing the clan its just some people ban for no good reason  |

LOL! I won't bash LS.
But I will share a story from last night.
Two players named GoD and Jesus were in my server last night. I didn't mind their names or the intrigueing dialog they had between themselves either. What I did have a problem with was their constant vulgarities.
They couldn't stop swearing and insulting other players.
Despite my patient disposition, despite friendly warnings, despite other players disdain - they could not stop swearing.
Its one thing to swear once in a while, that I can overlook no problem. But when the obscenities are constant and everyone is weary of it - it is time for RCON ACTION. They asked to not be banned but their vile dialog called for it, they just could not stop swearing.
Moral of the story:
Sure Red Faction is a violent game, no doubt - but, swearing and intimidation take it to the wrong level. In my server, we prefer a clean game. |

I was in a server and the guys name was "Ni**** Killer"... i did not appriciate that, even if im not of this race i dont think this is right.... |

As I said before, the game is rated mature and should be treated as such when it cexplicit language to be immature... the exact opposite of what the game's rated. When I play a game rated mature I expect to play with somewhat mature people. Does this mean everyone should be 17+ years old? No, just mature enough to not act like an offensive moron.
I'm sick and tired of 12-year-old kids who think it's cool to curse everyone out and offend people to the point of being banned.

Oh c'mon what about that guy who seemed not to like me last night Hapa  Just messing he didn't bug me that much, as I said when he left, he was beginning to amuse me.

I'm an rcon in Viper 3 and Have Fun but not LS (anymore anyways) and I agree that if someone is going to ban you for that it isn't right. Do you remember exactly what was said? Send it to me in a PM and we can sort it out without spamming up this topic with our discussion (if you want that is). |

Ah yes, I recollect, his name was Action. He stepped right up to the borderline. He came back later and was mellower about his language. Which is cool.
Some of these guys, they are just looking for attention. So they say provacative things to get a response. It's hard to imagine that they would feel better after getting banned. But maybe thats the emotional validation they seek... |

LOL. Oh, Kiliad. You make my soul smile, ha-ha.  But to get back on topic...
I am not trying to badger <L-S>, I just do not see the justice in their ways, (or at least the individual players that follow that standard). I could of completely ignored it and avoided having to get myself on the BoS List. They really do not have a legit reason for putting me on there any way because:
1. I do not mod.
2. I was respectful when I stated my opinion about something I do not agree with.
3. My name is not offensive.
I doubt I will be stepping foot in those servers again though. I think I'll change my name to

Their r so many Stupied Servers out their not just In RF,
Example CSS...i get 1 frag more than a clan dude nxt round iam slayed & banned (23/4/06...the day Clan dudes get annoyed rember that nxt year  )
Because the dude with rcon didnt no that spec was on team only and got called a hacker cause he couldnt see me...more like i camped with m4a1 silenced and got the hole Terriost team
Ping went over 130....My list goes on, Also their r so many stupied picky people out their who want 2 own then wen some 1 betta shows up it kicked 4 u |

This is one reason why I stay away from servers that have way too many rcon holders. It's cool that they have so many but a lot of the time, they get power hungry. When I gave out rcon, I only gave it out to players I knew and trusted. One player in particular is kiliad. Call me crazy but I trust that rail shooting hoser. I hardly ever gave rcon to anybody who asked for it unless I already knew them. I didn't make them state why they wanted rcon in the forums, like somebody, who I won't mention Hapa Hanu. I would freely give it out without asking them if they wanted it. I figured, if I trust them, why not give it to them. I did however have to take it away from one person and he knows who it is. He kept changing the levels to maps that weren't in the rotation. Which sucked for those that thought they had the maps. I was honored that he kept changing them to my maps but come on, even I get tired of playing my maps more than 12 times in a row. |
