Planetside

Oldish game, 3 years or so now... but still going strong.

Easiest way of describing it...

FPS set in future + Tanks + Buggies + Loads of Weapons + Aircraft + Bases = Planetside.

Grab the trial and join in the fun.

Yes its an MMO, yes there's a monthly fee... yes you'll enjoy it so shut up, download and play.

Several of us L4Y'rs are already playing on the European server (Werner). Always looking for a few friendly faces!

I'll take it then that molodiets doesn't like monthly fees.

I'd join up, but I'm not one for online games. My 56k would just annoy everyone I play against/with.

Man, I've gotta get a better connection.

In my spare time I like to write game reviews for Game Revolution.

yup, was part of the beta 3 years ago.... coincided with my final year at uni... and probably attributed to my 2:2

After the game launched I was back home on 56K... game played fine except in anything over a medium battle when it was a case of see someone, fire, keep moving and hope your shots hit something on the server

I do remember reading a review of Planetside a few years ago and that at the time it was a revolutionary MMO. I'm not really a fan of monthly fees though...
If it was ever released for free or if someone else was paying the bills I would most certainly try it.
By the way there isn't a free trial available?

Hey.
Thanks for the link. Is it seriously only 10mb for the trial? That seems a little small.

3gb ish for the trial, 3.41Gb after Core Combat as well.

It'll max out your bandwidth - they have good servers for the download. I downloaded the 3.41Gb in about 2hrs 25mins.

Yeah I won't be able to download until the end of next month if its 3gb, when I know exactly how much cap I have spare. Is the web updater pauseable?

Indeed it is, I had half downloaded on my laptop at work, went home and restarted and it checks your files then continues updating...also it is PC transferable

mm, pausable goodness. 200mb a day sounds like a plan and then a splurge at the end of the month.
