I bought a 49cc Blue Dirt Dog Gas Scooter. Here are the specs bellow…

ScooterCrew.com

·     Powered: Chain Driven
·     Motor Displacement: 49cc Pull Start Gas
·     Top Speed: 30 - 32 m.p.h.
·     Motor type: Air Cooled 2 Stroke (2 Cycle) Single Cylinder
·     Tank: 1 Liter
·     Distance on Tank: Approximately 30 mi
·     Fuel type: Oil/Gas Mix (25 to 1 Ratio)
·     Drive Train: Centrifugal (Automatic)
·     Weight Capacity: 400 lbs
·     Scooter Weight: 30 lbs
·     Throttle: Handgrip Style (Motorcycle)
·     Adjustable/Removable seat: Yes
·     Brakes: Front/Rear Disk
·     Tires: 9” X 3.5” Air Filled
·     Kick stand: Yes
·     Rear Reflector
·     Colors: Black, Red, Silver, Green, and Blue

This scooter actually weighs more than what is stated in the specs. The scooter weighs 50 pounds and so the shipping is 60 dollars through Fedex. When I opened the box, I noticed that it all was packaged very well. I got everything out of the box and saw all the things that needed assembled. The instructions manual is next to useless so I had to figure out how to assemble it myself. I had to install the front wheel, the seat, the gas tank, and fold up the handlebars. The bolt mounts for the gas tank were not aligned so I had to work it quite a bit to mount the gas tank.

The back tire was already on the bike but it was flat. Your thinking to yourself, well, just pump it up, well, easier said then done. One side of the wheel had the chain sprocket on it and the other side of the wheel had the disk break system. The inflator stem was on the inside of the wheel on the disk break side. Because of this, I could not get my compressor tire chuck in there to pump it up, nor could I get my new sport tire pump in their. Well, thankfully I kept my dads old tire pump which has a smaller fitting on the end of the hose and this allowed me to barely get it in there enough to pump up the tire. These tires take 35 PSI and I had my brother pump in 30 PSI then I had him keep pumping while I was trying to get the chuck back off the stem.

The next thing I had to do is tighten down all the nuts, bolts, and screws cause the unit comes to you with all of them loose. The manual and people on the internet all recommend using lock-tight to help secure them cause of the excessive vibration. This is a good thing because the carb was without a doubt loose causing an airleak. It says in the manual to mix gas at a 25:1 ratio for the break in period and then you can go to a 32:1 ratio. A reminder to those who are beginners to new engines, do not run your engine at full throttle during the break in period. Instead, use half throttle or less so you do not blow your engine.

Now I got the gas mixed and filled up the fuel tank on my scooter. The first thing I noticed was how quiet it was at low idle. This scooter has a centrifugal clutch so it will not move at low idle. When I gave it throttle, I was like WOW!!! This sucker really scoots, hence the name scooter. Pat Robertson would really like this scooter because it really shakes the hell out of ya when you are on a rough road! One thing I noticed when I was really accelerating from a stop is that the chain was missing on the sprocket so I had to tighten the chain and that fixed the problem. I was happy that it was just the chain missing cause I thought the centrifugal clutch was defective.

I bought the blue version of this scooter and I got a trunk for it. This thing is so freaken awesometastic!!! This scooter is too fast for wimps! I will get my own pics posted soon...

Are you enjoying your scooter? I got a little red 33cc scooter thats only supposed to go 25km/h but I did some tinkering around with it and got it to go somewhere between 30 and 35km/h. Thats still slow though compared to ur 49cc if it actually goes the 30 - 32mph (which is about 50km/h) you say it goes, but I still have fun booting around on it, doing catwalks on it, doing burnouts on it, etc.

LOL Just looked at the go kart on that site and wow, that is the most CENSORED looking butt ugly go kart I've ever seen! lol me and my friend won a go kart built by the shop class in our school and it was pretty much just made out of spare parts yet it looks way better then the one on that site!

lol nice. That looks more like a dune buggy though then a go kart. . The one me and my friend have is more made for like a road or a track and that one looks like it's made more for off roading.

Cool. U/l a pic. What brand motor do you have? When we got ours it had a pos old 5HP Briggs & Stratton engine so we bought a brand new 6HP Tecumseh Power Sport and it runs quite good.

I don't have a digi camera atm, and.... it doesn't quite run either atm

But, it has a Briggs & Stratton motor.

To describe it, would be a black low sitting bar body, no fiberglass, etc., metal/aluminum. Slick racing tires, 12" custom straight pipe, and yea, nothing fancy. Metal gas pedal and brake pedal It sounds like a truck with that straight pipe! lol

Is it like a home built go kart or is it manufactured?

I think it was an "American Eagle", but now it's pretty much just custom, and a pos

Hey there guys, whats up?

Ya, I've been scootering and scootering and scootering and scootering LOL. Its too much fun to go full throttle down steep hills getting 35MPH or little more! I am going to get a high performance intake mod and that should add 4 to 5 miles per hour! My dirtdog is ultimate bada**

I had my brother take a video of me driving it in a bus depot parking lot. I edited the video and then added music in the background, I think you all will recognise it. I did not do anything fancy with the scooter, just beating lap times LOL Let me know what you think of my video editing work though... Scooter Dog

I don't like the seat. I think scooters look cooler when there's no seat and you stand up on em.

Today I took an hour long 20km trip down the green way. (It used to be train tracks but they don't use that rout any more so they filled in all the tracks with dirt and put a fine rock over top and now it's a walking/bike trail and its called "The Green Way") Then when I got home I took a break then went booting around my yard, road, and all the fields around us and one of my motor mounts broke off so now the motor jiggles around like crazy and the chain keeps falling off and the part that snapped can't be welded back because it's just cheap aluminum or something. So I'm gonna return the scooter and get my money back. I was thinking of getting one from that site u got yours from, but I checked to see where its at and its in Las Vegas... So by the time I shipped it across the country then up to Canada and payed duty and boarder fees it would cost a fortune, so now I'm looking around for a local place that sells scooters because where I got mine only carries the model I got and I need to find a better quality more heavy duty one. Im just glad the mount didnt break when I was like 10km away from my house... That would be one very long walk! lol

Well, I'm sorry to have to say this but, I am not going to buy one of these scooters again. I am going to buy a better one...

Well that sucks. When you say your going to buy a better one do you just mean a better one from that site u got yours from or do you know of another site? For me it's not my engine that's breaking it's the body of the scooter. another mount snapped off, so now I only have 2 left. It seams every time I drive it something breaks or comes loose. So were going to take it to a welding shop and see if they can find a new way to hold the motor in place.

When I buy a better scooter it will probably be from somebody else, there are many online dealers that sell all kinds of scooters...

I changed my decision and decided to rebuild it...

I have ordered a piston pin puller tool, a cylinder head, a piston, and rings. I have spent a total of $116.00 Wish Me Luck...

I wish you the best of luck with it, but uhhh.... If the engine has already started to chew up your piston(s)... I would look into returning it to the company, and looking elsewhere for a better scooter IMHO <_<

I would return it and get them to fix it under warranty or give you a new one.
