Take a look at http://www.levels4you.com/pages/roundup/week34_2006.l4y
This is a work in progress and not quite finished yet.
It will be a weekly review page that will get posted up every Friday morning so people arriving on the site for their weekend fix will see the stuff posted from the last week all nicely together for their downloading pleasure.
Feedback is welcome on the FUNCTIONALITY of the page, NOT the content.
This works in Opera 9, Firefox 1.5 and IE6.
If it doesn't work for you in these browsers, get out of the stone age and enable Javascript.
Its a bit jerky in IE yes... but thats IE and I cant do anything about that. Opera/Firefox both smoothly scroll the segments.
If you have a different browser and it DOESN'T work... I want to know about it. Post the name of your browser and its version (EXACTLY) and it'll be investigated over the course of the week.

Well it works. For the most part, why does it replay the 'open' animation when closing? I'm runnig the latest Firefox web browser if that has anything to do with it.
Anywho... Will this be replacing the headers at the top of each game section? (The recent files and recent reviews)
I like it over all, it should be a nice addition to the site. |

Also, it plays the same in IE, Opera, and FireFox for me No jerking in any. |

Looks good. Only problem with mine is it goes flickery when opening/closing...
Also the way it slides open it slides out from behind the other boxes, is it supposed to do that? Im using Opera 8.54 |

It was not finished as of last night, the not finished part was handling the finer details such as clicking the same 'Show!' twice. Its sorted now.
This wont be replacing anything, its a new addition designed to keep the stuff added in the last week in the spotlight a little longer. At the moment new files get their news post and then drift down the page. If you dont visit the site for 2-3 days you're likely to miss announcements of new files.
A Friday morning post with this data means every file posted to the site has a second chance of attracting attention. Friday morning because its just before the weekend when we get the most visitors.

Yup thats the idea... it fades in from behind the rest of the page and into position.
I've improved the sliding this morning so it works better with different sized segments. Before the slide was a set 100 pixels, now its approximately the height of the individual segment... leading to a better scrolling movement.
Thanks for the comments guys... glad to know its looking good |
