Yesterday EA signed a deal with IGA Worldwide and Microsoft-owned Massive Inc to provide advertising space in upcoming games.
Developers and publishers have been signing advertising details in the past, but EA, the world's largest third-party publisher had not yet stepped in. This is a big move in the gaming world. BF2142 will be the first game to contain ads from IGA Worldwide.
EA have had ads in the Need for Speed games for quite some time now, but these never changed. Need for Speed Carbon will feature dynamic ads, which will be updated via an internet connection to change the ad displayed, and allow them to update as time goes on.
Next thing we know we will be having the flying advert ship like in Bladerunner.

I wouldnt mind having adverts on the boards in a hockey game, or on a blimp in a football game or something.. or even on bilboards in a racing game, but i really hope that we wont be seeing 10,000 ads before we can play the game
Itll turn out like sports events on TV:
"You have selected the new Pepsi Mustang! Have fun racing down the Los Vegas track; sponsered by 7 Eleven!"

I guess that means that the arenas will be constantly changing in the next Fight Night game.

No.
Games industries have to pay MORE AND MORE for games. Times have changed..games like Doom were really cheap to make
But they are able to keep prices "low" by adding advertisement to the games.
Need For Speed Underground always had this fake advertisement..GTA3-x have..
However I would like to see only advertisement of known industries like coka cola, nothing like advertisement about the 6000th anti-virus software or those things I get in my emails each day.
I only fear the fact that you have to be connected to the internet.
There are rumors that games will remember how often and how long you've looked at single ad's and send this information out (scripting that is like stealing a lollipop from a baby for these guys)

First game i spotted Adverts for real comapnies was burnout 3. Adverts for Axe deoderant (Lynx). along with adverts for other games. its a clever idea as long as it isnt intrusive. leave it on billboards as you race around and thats fine, but if you have fully animated adverts flashing bright colours it will distract you from the game. Also dont have them before loading times, please dont. *prays*
