Allthough, this sounds like the title of a spam message (like every thing that starts off with FREE) it isn't. Surfin the web I came across this page from wikipedia. On this page I found a page called Home of the Underdogs its a page full with abandonware (old games that are free for download)

one of my favorits to kill some time must be Scorched Earth which can be found here

other great classics i found on there:

Scorched Earth
One Must fall
Metal Gear Solid
Earthworm Jim 2
Maniac Mansion Deluxe
Crusader: No Remorse
Super Offroad
Stunts (a.k.a. 4D Sports Driving)
Slipstream 5000
Gothic
The Incredible Machine 3.0 (TIM 3)
Wetrix

The next ones aren't completly free I believe, but at least their cheap.
The lost vikings
Grim Fandango
Magic Carpet
Descent II
Carmageddon
Monopoly Tycoon
Screamer 2
Fatal Racing (a.k.a. Whiplash)
SimCity 2000 Network Edition
ATF: Advanced Tactical Fighters

I'm not sure how they all work on your systems, because for some games the systems these days are a bit to powerfull, in that case maybe you have an old PC somewere to play these games.

have fun

6-8! Cripes that makes me feel old!

Maniac Mansion was a complete CENSORED of a game, never completed it! It was the one that got away...

Metal Gear Solid is AbandonWare!?! Wow! Gonna hit that one!

Holy...Metal Gear Solid free for the PC???
I LOVED that game when I played it on the PS1. It was simply amazing.

Anyways I went to this site before. It was the time when I was trying to find that Starship Troopers RTS game.
