Yea, Nod32 and Kaspersky I believe are the top 2. |

Diconnect your computer from the internet, and don't put any cd's disk or anything else in it.
better yet don't turn on your computer
otherwise I don't know really, I have been using Norton for a long time now and it works fine for me but i'm pretty sure I will get some comments in this topic for just saying that, some people are just soooo anti-Norton. |

OH GOD NO! NOT NORTON!!
Ha, just kidding.
Its an ok app, its just that it sometimes misses stuff. I've actually had no real problems with other than it finds stuff, but doesn't want to remove them .
So then I just go in commando and remove the problems myself. |

Norton. It's the only one i've ever used and I don't think I've had any problems with it. |

Used Avast, and... it's ok...
I still like McAfee, but I've been using Nod32 for about a week now and it's pretty good. Lightweight, doesn't hog system resources, VERY effective. |

NOD32 beats everything else hands down.
Best detection rate and yet you barely notice its installed its that well programmed.
Very efficient program! |

Uh Oh, Trojans are really bad. It could be that it is too deeply embedded in your system, or it’s that nod32 does not have a procedure to remove that virus specifically.
First, try updating nod32, scan again after updating. If it still doesn't remove it, try this:
Find the exact name of the Trojan, and look up how to remove it.
I suggest google search: 'how to remove _____'
Obviously put the name of the trojan in the blank.
If I can find, or remember some virus definition sites, I'll pm you a link. Post the name of the virus here, and we could help you even further. |

Symantic's website has virus definitions (the company that made Norton; the best antivirus software ever made )
Most Trojens find ways to disable your virus detection temprarially so that they will be litterally invisable to detection. Best bet is to run a low level format; although that takes a while...
As a general rule of thumb, always install trusted antivirus AND anti-spyware/malware software, stay away from "dodgey sites", and be sure to run scans regularly. Also, some instant messengers (Windows Messenger, MSN Messenger just to name a few) Can/Will be harmful if you dont know how to use them correctally. |

I have several firewalls but my antivirus isn't up to date.
I sometime do a scan on an online antivirus. bitdefender or panda. |
