There's some stuff I can install but then there's others where I can't. One time I tried to install The Sims on my computer and I got this error, The InstallShield (iKernel.exe) could not be launched. The RPC server is unavailable. Anyone know how to solve this? 60% of the time, it works every time - Brian Fantana     Garner    Posted 8th Oct 2006 8:21pm Post 2519 / 4125 RPC - (Remote Proceedure Call) is a pretty important aspect of any windows machine. Start ->Run Type in 'services.msc' and hit enter. In the list of services that appears scroll down to 'Remote Procedure Call (RPC) and make sure that it is... 1) Started 2) Startup Type is automatic. If it is not started this is your problem. A number of viruses target the RPC service and cause it to crash. Automatic means 'start when the pc is turned on' If its on automatic and its not started... well its stopped at some point. Start it up and try again.
