Just the other day I recieved a fraud email in my hotmail account. It was a email claming to be from paypal to get you to give them all your information.
First thing to look out for: Look at the email address it was sent from. If it says something like "service17@onlines.com" that is not a valid paypal address.
Second thing to look for: What they did with me is in their email message, they were saying that my paypal account had been used in illegal activities and therefor they suspended my account. (something of which I knew right off the bat was not true!) So they wanted me to click on this link to enter my information as to an appeal if I thought they were wrong.
Third thing and most important: #1. Paypal's privacy policy states that they will never ask for your information! #2. Paypal states that if you click on a link in an email and it takes you to what you think is paypal's site, look at the website address. If it does not say...www.paypal.com, then you are on a illegal fishing website! In my email, the site was medianet.com and it was made to look like Paypal's site!
If you have gotten one of these emails, do not click on the link, do not log in, and do not give them any information! Instead, forward your fraud email to... spoof@paypal.com and then delete the fraud email immedieatly! After reporting the fraud email to paypal, you will recieve a email thanking you for helping them deter fraud. |

This happened to me too....except instead of paypal, it was a Steam-related incident. I hate those CENSORED people who try to phish accounts....
I don't use Paypal but at least I'll know what to find if I ever make an account and be targeted by phishers |

Yep i got an Ebay one recently, i could honestly find no fault with it. It looked like something ebay would do, it both said why my account was suspended and then explained it. It's "login to fix this" link was to ebay.
They obviously put some effort into and i can see many people falling for it.
I knew it was fake for 2 reasons:
1. Ebay will NEVER ask you for your login details or link to a login specific page.
2. Im an Australian Ebay member and all the links were to www.ebay.com/link which is the American Ebay. |

Actually, I've already received a lot of eBay and PayPal style e-mails like that. But, seeing as I do not have an eBay or PayPal account, I just mark 'em as spam and delete.
Next time, I'm going to reply 'Hahaha, nice try morons! I'm not falling for it!' |

I've received far too many of those to count. I usually go to their site and fill in a load of crap into the form
All about making the data they collect useless... |

Actually, I was sent one about Half-Life 2: Episode 2 beta testing, and they needed your Steam login and password to "send" to your account.
I sent an email back asking how many Steam accounts he actually got, and to my suprise he said 100's! |

It's a scam that's been around since PayPal came out really. Nothing new for people to try to get a bit of free cash. Of course, there are unsuspecting people that believe the email(s) and send in their information.
The best one I've seen with a sent email address was:
<name>@ipaypal.com
Kinda close to the original |
