I know that a lot of you will be going to gaming stores around this time of year, ready to spend that cash you got from various relatives and stuff, so I thought I'd give my opinion about what you should get.
I've noticed that not all games (or mods, for that matter) get the attention they deserve. Sometimes a game will be hyped by various gaming groups, like magazines, TV advertisers, gaming sites, etc. then when the game is released, it's utter crap! UT2003 is a good example of this. It was given so much attention, then came release day and bam! Crap.
Other games get little to no advertisement and spend their entire release 'life' stuck in bargain bins and yet they completely trounce other, more popular games in all categories! One classic example is Serious Sam. Very few people knew it was coming, then it became one of 'the games to own'. For an example closer to L4Y, what about Garner's beloved X2 - The Threat? I never had heard of it until Garner posted a screenshot of X3 somewhere around this site, and so when I finally found a copy of X2, I bought it and tried it. Now, as you may know, I'm a fan of Freelancer, the space game which received more publicity, and X2 blows that sucker away in terms of story and freedom. Sure, X2 may lack a multiplayer mode, but it's still far superior to Freelancer in my opinion.
In closing, remember that not all top-shelf games are worth a share of that Christmas money, and not all bargain bin ones are worth throwing in a regular bin. |

X2 and 3 are amazing games in terms of depth and graphical prowess. Freelancer has nothing on either as you say. Plus X2 has multi-monitor support so finally theres a game that you could use those dual 17" monitors with (sadly the one missing feature I REALLY wanted in X3 is the multi monitor support... sadly even great games suffer from the standard 'going backwards' in terms of functionality)
I only heard about X2 because it came bundled with my graphics card. I'd have completely missed it otherwise... |

Whoa I never seen this place before...
Yeah there are a lot of games out there that would be released and no one would buy them. One example is the game, Breakdown which came out for the Xbox exclusively. I dont know what happened to it but nobody bought it. I plan on getting the game pretty soon since the game demo is excellent and it shows that the game is very unique and you care about the characters. It even won an award for Most Underrated Game for the Xbox from Official Xbox Magazine. |

What? Levels4you? I think you've been here before... or at least I hope you have to be a staff member
I think I can guess where you ended up... looked a bit different did it? If so its the development domain for L4Y, runs off the same database but different code... |

Errr, i didnt. It directed me to ".levels4you.com" (<nothing>.levels4you.com) which gave me an error. I think this "development domain for L4Y" is enabled for admins only. |

Yeah I was just looking at the online users and saw Garner on the site. I guess I got curious and clicked it. It looks pretty slick too. |

But yea, the dev site looks awesome Garner, all those curves must have taken a long time
Although, i regret to say i still like the current site more, the dev site looks too much like other sites. Windows Media Player's skin "Goo" comes to mind... |

UT2003 wasnt bad... I liked it. Then again UT2003 was the first unreal tournament game i was introduced to anaways. So obviously I didn't hear any hype about it. My brother persuaded me into buying it. |
