I also remember playing Duke Nukem, but it wasn't the FPS version, it was like a Nintendo like game then.

We have to thank iD software for bringing out Wolfenstein 3D, the mother of FPS games.
I have played that old Duke Nukem game it was pretty crap, however the 3D version is good. |

I remember d/l'ing all of their demos, and playing Duke 3D, etc... those were some great games.
I think at the time, I had a 486DX4-100.. VLB 2MB STB video.. 16MB of RAM.. man that was a smoking machine!! I remember playing Fleet Defender with the graphics tweaked out, man that was an awesome game!
The cool thing was, at the time, DOS was still so prevelent. I think I was running WFW3.11 in 386ENH mode. Sweet |

HalfLife2 will be a great game for those who love a story with talking characters and the right atmpsphere. Doom3 will have a great atmosphere too, but I don't think the monsters will talk to you LOL
If you going to get Doom3 you should build or buy a good soundsystem, and also buy a good soundcard because that game really needs it! I've heard a lot of good things about the sounds on Doom3, it'll be the horor when you play it on a louder volume and hear all the monsters scratching the walls |

Yeah Doom used to give me the heebie-geebies. Never been keen on games with strong supernatural themes.
RedFrog - as for talking to characters in Doom3 you shouldn't knock it till you try it. Its not all "Kill the humans!". Monsters actually live extremely interesting lives. |

Kiliad, then I guess if you are not into supernatural games you really shouldn't try Eternal Darkness. This is a great game, and even IGN defines it as one of the best games they've ever played because it is so gripping of a story. I don't recommend it to anyone with any type of imagination or weak gut, is all I have to say though. Also, you have to have some spare time as the game, you must play it through all 40 hours or so otherwise the entire game won't make sense at all... then technically you must finish it another two times to get the whole story... its somewhat confusing in how it works. Its a terrific game though, especially since it has really suceeded any other game in atmosphere. (Scarier than Resident Evil or Doom, anything, it screws with your head, not a jump-out-and scare you type, its the type that slows gnaws at your psyche). I will be interested to see if Doom 3 can come close on atmosphere. |

Played Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, And Hell was that a Scare Trip! You think one thing..then Expect it to be happening, yet only to be fooled by it not being real. I got to play it entirely, But I was too scared to enter some rooms after seeing my body Decapitate |
