OH?! That is a steaming crock of B-S! So they deleted the link to levels4you because we are advertising?
And yet they will host the link to the cheat mod site...
OK - now I am IRRITATED!
I will check out that article this weekend and straighten them out; enough of this idle willy nilly pandering hanky panky limp wristed scholarly baloney. |

Ok IAC, you may be joking but im serious  its like someone comes along and deletes it  ... L4Y is a great site to find files and also a great place to ask questions about a game for free ... why would they remove it?
A few were still up though, such as the UT2k4 section ...

Well, where did you put it? If you put it in the middle of the article somewhere they probably will delete it, but if you put it in the external links section it will stay up for a month  ... |

I am not angry. I figured something like this would happen.
Just be glad you are not here with me in the machine shop. I can sling together adjectives so furiously - paint will peel off the walls.
In fact, I am still at work, someone remind me to delete the cookies before I go home. |

I wasn't joking. When I first found wikipedia I read the redfaction page and then noticed there was no link to l4y in the external links so I added it, concidering this is the best site on the web for red faction and any red faction fan should know about it, and it stayed there for a while then I went back one day and it was gone.  |

OK - I reviewed the wiki article concerning our beloved game Red Faction and found it to be a fairly standard summary. I am letting it sink in before I make any edits to the descriptions.
I have added the link for redfaction.levels4you.com and have called it Red Faction Support.
I also deleted the link to the mod site - if this is a problem, the modders and I will share a discussion. |

Yeah. The masters of wiki are unwilling to allow the link at this point.
Apparently they don't link to discussion forums.
Maybe they will in the near future - I am waiting for a response.
I recommend that no one makes a move on that article at all. It would be risky.

Thats the biggest selling point and the biggest problem with Wiki. Anyone can edit it.
You have many people submitting a mix of facts and lies to it... which can then be moderated by any other user. Who'll often edit back to fit his/her knowledge.
If Wiki don't allow advertising then they should block all external links. The fact that this site is without a doubt the biggest repository of Red Faction related maps, mods and other stuff related to the game (namely a good proportion of the very knowledgeable community) doesn't seem to factor into it.
I have no idea why they're allowing the cheating website on.
Surely thats advertising cheating within the game...? |

I did remove the cheat link already, thankfully they did not undo it.
My last action at wikipedia was to add a link to an archived redfaction home page, since THQ is no longer hosting it.
As far as I am concerned, I am done with wikipedia. |

Well thats a load of ballony. Sorry guys. Thought it was a great idea, but surely if all they are do are delete the link to this site the links to the other sites should go. It doesn't make any sense. Maybe we could re-write into the actual article about the prestigous gathering of L4Y vs. Volition? Would they allow that? It involves the creators of the game (which the article is about), involves the game and also involves this site as the communities hub.
Well at least we are No.1 in Googles eyes.  |

The problem is the way the wikipedia members enforce the use of external links.
Some are lax and others are militant.
They don't want a link to a "discussion forum".
The only way they will allow a link to something is if the format of the site is encyclopaedic in layout and usage. |
