In the previous poll, On Which Of These Games Would You Like To Beta Test? sequels to the older, more well known name games did best. Of the total votes of 645, here are the highlights:
* Doom 3 - 186 votes
* Quake 4 - 127 votes
* Duke Nukem Forever - 91 votes (tie)
* BF: Vietnam - 91 votes (tie)
Today's poll is much simpler: Do You Have A Corded Or Cordless Mouse?
Rock the Vote!
Enjoy! |

I would say that a corded mouse is a necassity for every seriouse online gamer, since cordless mice tend to have a substential latency (5-20 ms, I'd say, which could mean the difference between life and death at times).
Corded mice have nearly no latency.
Having said all that, freedom of motion can be nice... |

Actually you are mistaken Mike. You are used to the cordless mice of yesteryear.
I have the Logitech MX 700. The technology is so accurate I think it is better than the corded mouse I have.

A revolutionary new 800 dpi sensor captures 4.7 megapixels every second, measuring even the smallest movement. You get more accuracy and control on more surfaces than ever before. |
The cordless is used for gaming only, all other things the corded mouse is used.
Bit-Tech did a great review of it Here.
Promise you this...if you try gaming with this mouse, you will never use a corded one again. GUARANTEED! |

people forgot that you can use something called a Trackball. You dont have to move it around and it can be connected With freedom of motion. It takes time to get used to though. |

A mouse without a cord is like a rat without a tail. It's unnatural. I like tails therefore I will stick with a corded mouse. Ask me how many times I've seen Nitro say that the mouse's batteries have just died. Smack that, I rather be safe than sorry. I'll stick with my Logitech Optical Mouse MX500. It has a nice tail and it doesn't ever get in the way.

2 things I didn't like about my cordless mouse:
1) Weighed too much, with the batteries and all. I'm used to moving my mouse around quickly, especially in games, when you hear someone behind you and snap your wrist to shoot them.
2) Mine always shorted out on me. It'd work for 3 days, then not work for a day. It'd work for 8 days, then not work for 2. I didn't understand it, fix it, or find a possible reason or solution. So I gave up and bought a mouse with a cord and probably always will now. |

Blue_Fish has the MX500, Madmorning has the MX700. My old Logitech MouseMan is not far off its third birthday and occasionally decides it doesn't want to work anymore. I have to disconnect it for a few minutes and plug it back in again for it to work... obviously something needs to discharge that isn't always anymore
I'm planning on going cordless with the MX700. The shape of the MX series of mice is very similar to my Mouseman so I'm already happy with the design, plus I've had Madmorning tell me everything about how the mouse works... and everything points to it reacts and works exactly like the corded MX500 little brother. Just without the cable.
Was thinking of the MX900 version but then got a motherboard without Bluetooth so MX700 it is |

I tried both, and prefer mouse with a cord. Got advice from a world top CS player to use one with cord. For now I have the IntelliMouse Explorer, but will probably have a look at the new Boomslang |

Actually Foe, you are mistaken, the facts you mention are about the optical qualities of the mouse.
Fact is that the wireless signal still has to be sent to a receiver, after the signal has been received, it still has to be converted to an electrical signal, this all takes time, usually an unnoticable small amount of time, but it's still there.
These steps are unnecessary for corded mice. |
