Security Alert: Internet Explorer Spoofing
Posted May 25th, 08:12pm by Garner

No surprise in this headline but reports are emerging that IE has another huge gaping security hole in the side of it.

To sum up the problem...

Quote
That means the victims' browsers are, in fact, visiting the PayPal website or other intended URL, but that a dll file that attaches itself to IE is managing to read and modify the html while in transit.

Rather nasty if you ask me. Oh and it seems to be infecting IE only. No surprises there then.

This time the scammers were let down by poor wording... next time?

Do yourself a favour

You know, the interesting thing is, I switched to Opera quite a while ago because of your reccomendations Garner, and I've never looked back. The only thing I use IE for anymore is for certain sites that won't load up properly because their coding is specific to IE. Also, and this is just my opinion, don't even consider Firefox, it's around the same level as IE, at least in my estimation.

Ummm, why would you use IE, which has errors when playing Planetary Command, when you have Opera which has no errors?

Garner introduced me to Opera over a year ago when i was using IE (god was i stupid) and I guarentee i will NEVER go back. Ive acually uninstalled IE (granted i can still access it by typing a URL in an explorer window...)

I only use IE for microsoft website (as they made it incompatible with anything else.... (Censored)s... and for accessing my router, as i find it faster than Opera...

All in all...

Opera: +++++
Firefox: +++
IE: - - - - -

I don't have to change from Opera for that? I just went there and downloaded Windows Defender again to see if anything changed, but Opera works perfectly fine for me. The only thing is that they perform a Genuine check first
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Upcoming version of Planetary Command works properly with IE6+.

I still don't get how so many tech savvy people can be worried about this. If you just watch what you're doing online, you won't have any problems. I've used IE exclusively for as long as I've had a PC and not one time have I had a problem. I guess you can't expect people to be able to decide what they should and shouldn't click on though.... that would be expecting too much.
