Um it should work as thats how i did it on my brothers computer....
But i used that solution like 4 months ago now he uses the drivers from the linksys page
Readyboost doesn't really work that well as it can even slow down your computer i would suggest that u get yourself some more RAM instead |

Thought i would see a reaction like that .
but if i download the linksys drivers from the website they install (if i do it manually. no automated setup..) but still windows doesnt detect the hardware. |

You say you've tried installing Vista drivers for the card, but have you tried XP drivers? From what you've said it sounds like it works just fine when using XP; and yes, XP drivers are compatable (though, not always the best choice) with Vista. |

plug the eternet cable in and see if your internet works then. If not, then it might require a OS reinstall. I had a similar problem on my laptop. It was detecting the card and the single. It would connect but wouldnt work. Reinstalled drivers and still didnt work. Plugged ethernet cable in and it would work, after a OS reinstall the wireless worked again. |

Are the drivers digitally signed? I can't seem to find your specific card on the Windows Hardware Compatibility List. If there are Vista drivers for your card, but it's still not working then the problem might not be with the card itself, but another piece of hardware you have. What other devices do you have attached that don't use standard Windows drivers? |

My router is 2 floors down. so that wont work. if an OS reinstall is required il just delete Vista. and wait a few years .
They werent digitally signed. though the Xp ones where.
Other devices, Realtek sound driver.
And my video card wasnt detected to. but thats solved now, Nvidia Geforce 6600 Gt |

Suggest removing the item from device manager (delete, uninstal... whatever the option is)
Then reboot and see if it detects it properly. It may think its current drivers are better than the ones you're trying to install.
On a side note - I wouldn't use Vista on 512Mb. Personally: 768Mb minimum, 1Gb preferred. |

The thing about ReadyBoost is that performance is still signifficantly worse than simply having more memory. All ReadyBoost does is make your paging file faster to access (if you know anything about paging files then you know that's not much of an improvement). RAM is getting cheaper and cheaper as time goes on, if you're still running off of 512MB I suggest you upgrade to 1GB (at least); it'd only set you back about $25 USD. |

Since vista came out i have had many calls about the wrieless to try and sort out, 80% of the time it is the router that doesnt like vista or vica versa, YET if you use a wired cat5 cable on them they work no probelms at all.
Simple solution, try another router, recommend a netgear DG834g |

Thats not so easy. my dad and my brothers use the router on there own computer to. and they work fine. without vista that is.so they wont change router because i want vista i didnt pay it after all..
But where should i get RAM memory, i dont have any local computer stores.
I had this old computer with windows 2000 and 64 RAM, i tryed getting the RAM out of the computer but it doesnt fit in mine. |
