In Steam's latest update they released a BETA that could take the gaming world by storm.
I wish to lead Levels-4-You through this new endeavour from steam as it shows steam they have support (read: update with users in mind) and can also benefit L4Y as a real-time gaming HUB for all our users.
What it does currently for the L4Y Community. - Allows users to see who else is online and what they are playing (steam-only games are the only ones supported at this time.)
- A dedicated L4Y chatroom (tells you how many people are currently in the room on the group homepage)
- Quick join into other members online games from the homepage (Again steam-only games at this time)
- Events, Gives the abilities for admins and selected members to add events to the calendar which are then shown on the homepage and all users are notified via steam.
- Announcements, any exciting or important news can be added by admins or selected members to be displayed on the main page.
See below for a quick look at how the homepage looks.
Remember this is all still in BETA and you can be assured that its usability and functionality will undoubtedly be improved on once steam gets it's feedback and bug reports.
To become a part of this (hopefully) revolution you only need three things:
1. STEAM
2. Steam will need to have the BETA enabled to use (INSTRUCTIONS)
3. A Web Browser to access the Group Homepage (which i will assume you have )
I urge everyone with steam to sign-up and those without steam to get it and sign up.
Be sure to leave your comments/thoughts on this as we will most definitely be taking your opinions seriously as this is for the community itself.

I like the way it connects L4Y people. Every steam user of L4Y should add himself to the L4Y group. This is also good for advertising this site (all your friends will see it), so please do it!
That's exactly why I wanted to create it, I would love to have it used more but so far there haven't really been any L4Y events.
I used to sit in the group chat aswell but noone would ever join (I think Halsfire is the only one I've talked to in it.)
P.S. Still Alive.

well, im logged in right now but it seems as if no one cares if im online ... just like Xfire ...
Edit: It would be nice if we could find some more centralized system of instant communication and event planning ...
Xfire doesn't really have a group feature and Steam doesn't support all games ... just its own.
To be honest, the only way i think a system like this would become successful in the L4Y community is if it was integrated into the L4Y site itself ... and thats pretty much out of the question ...

Something like a signature that would tell l4y users if you're online and what game you're playing?

but again, L4Y doesnt support Image Signatures. If there was a way to allow XFire signatures ONLY (which would be extremly hard, if not impossible) then please do it Garner
For anyone reading this in 2019 or later: The RF community is alive on the Community Discord

Banners could be part of your profile?

There will be NO images in sigs ever as i thought it was clear from the last thread about these . Just put a txt like to your profile if it that big an issue.
Far as in your profile you will need to wait until Garner responds on that one.

Not trying to argue that they should be allowed, but why aren't images allowed in signatures? Just one less thing to moderate?
As for images in profiles, I think that wouldn't really catch on... Maybe instead of images, just show the game's icon next to the person's avatar using some sort of XFire and/or Steam integration. I'm not sure thats entirely possible with available resources, but I think its worth mentioning...
