Okay, everyone propably knows that I am trying to hang cheating in RF multiplayer.

Well I made a discovery today that might actually change the situation to better direction.

I created a test purpose made modification (small) that changed few things within table files, and I build mod files so that table files are in system.vpp and ui stuff in gui.vpp...

so far with help of "RF server assistant" I have managed to run set of tests and so far I got green light...

So now I will do some test with friends, who I can thrust, and if tests still illuminate the green light, well... cheaters need to return to their drawing boards, since file cheating is _KILLED FOR GOOD_

erm - i fail to see how this stops client side cheats.

If you are saying you are working on something like RF1.4, then it will fail.

What you are working on should be only for the server side, client side should not be included into updating or downloading anything... you know the lazy people won't do that. And this would yet be another split up (faction) in Red Faction.

Trotskie is also being working on some things but I don't know if he will do anything against cheaters...what I've seen was more of fun stuff, which actually is no fun stuff since it could destroy every game, and most important clan war games.
I'm not a friend of all this hacking.

You know what ive been saying ever since THQ ditched Red Faction.....

If we had the Source code to RF, We could change a whole lot of things in Red Faction to destroy all cheating, and to make the game better...

Unfortunally, due to THQ's "We Don't Care" Scheme, they will not give us it and never will.

God someone get a job at THQ and STEAL the source code please

We could change the whole world if we had RFs source code. We can't make games but we could.

It's not a we dont care sheme.

Why not share all secrets in the industries? Sure it would make everything better but this is bad for profit.
Releasing a source code is a special event/offer by the developers and NOT an usual happening. Stop blaming THQ for not doing it. THQ is one of the reasons why Red Faction is so good, but it's not their fault that you can cheat in it.

Honestly, if a new product is in the works - please try to make it compatible with RF 1.2 on the server side. Anything else will see limited downloads and usage.

As rawrzz has stated before me, Trot is indeed working on a anti-cheat and if i may say so, its going very well.

In regards to the completly serverside... With trots, i dont know, but i know that most (if not all) projects that me and digi are working on will be completly server-side

Our aim is to increase popularity for RF by providing new, fun changes which require no client side effort except playing.

thing I am working on will be compatible with RF 1.20. However I can't say sure if it can be used just on server side, or is client as well forced to download it. If so I try to make it to be small and have clean readme on it.

Well, basically thing I am working on is an "virtual mod" ...

In my own test I could not get cheats to work, so I need one last testing to be done, and I rather take someone to help with testing, that I have thrust...

Fury, the point that Hapa is trying to make is that its hard to get the community to have to download new files just to play in your server.

As frog said, i firmly believe that if it requires a client-side download to work, it will fail just like 1.3 did.

Im still having part of the program SnipedDragon used on his ISM server. but part of it got detected as a trojan and it got deleted. but he said thats normal.

I will try to do that. Unfortunately I can't get it to be just server side thingie, it needs to be on both client and server as far as I know of.

I have intend to release this mod for everyone, not just to be needed to play on my server.
And I try to keep file size to as small as possible to make download friendly for everyone. Also I bet that this mod causes couple of head scratches for modders But they deserved it.

I'm sorry to say that but it will fail.
Even if 100 downloaded it, it would not be enough. There are much more players in RF, perhaps 1000. If not all recieve this thing simultaneously and forced they won't bother playing in limited and rare servers which no one plays in.

Im going to have to agree with Frog on this one, It will fail if its server and client side... Just like 1.3 did.

Make it serverside and im excited, make it server/client side then it will fail. Sorry to seem so negative - but its the truth.
