The highly anticipated game by 2k games, BioShock has just been released on steam (the demo is also available for free via steam if you wish to see it in action)
The game has been widely received as a step forward in the FPS genre with an unbelievable metascore of 97 and several 100/100 scores from places like 1up.com and Eurogamer.net
A quick blurb about the actual game:
Quote | BioShock is a shooter unlike any you’ve ever played, loaded with weapons and tactics never seen. You’ll have a complete arsenal at your disposal from simple revolvers to grenade launchers and chemical throwers, but you’ll also be forced to genetically modify your DNA to create an even more deadly weapon: you. Injectable plasmids give you super human powers: blast electrical currents into water to electrocute multiple enemies, or freeze them solid and obliterate them with the swing of a wrench.
No encounter ever plays out the same, and no two gamers will play the game the same way. |
Some features include:
- Biologically modify your body: send fire storming from your fingertips and unleash a swarm of killer hornets hatched from the veins in your arms.
- Hack devices and systems, upgrade your weapons and craft new ammo variants.
- Turn everything into a weapon: the environment, your body, fire and water, and even your worst enemies.
- Explore an incredible and unique art deco world hidden deep under the ocean.

The computer needed to run this turns up tomorrow.
Until then I'll just stare at my old one wishing it was fast enough |

This is an EXCELLENT game! I got it as soon as it came out (I love being able to reserve games at EB Games.) My computer rides on the line of "Minimum Specs" and "Recommended Specs," Sometimes the lag is unbearable, sometimes it's fine. Other than that and loading times, this is the best FPS I've ever played! Too bad it doesn't have multiplayer
Storyline is basic; you are in a plane crash in the middle of the ocean, and then arrive under the ocean to an aquatic paradise. But everything isn't as it seems.
