The Textures are not showing on the model when playing the actual game. It's prob just one thing I left out after I added the new model to the clutter tbl.

When playing the game the new model is all checkered with the default texture Red uses.

I'm not doing a mod, I'm adding the model to my game data files as I want to do some single player levels with custom models and textures.

I have solved the issue. I chucked it in the meshes folder now the model shows the texture.

Hmm but I dunno why The emitters wont export with the V3d plugin out of Studio Max,
the plugin keeps saying "it can't handle that object at the moment."

RF Only supports the VParticle particle system.

If your doing a SP, its always best to make a mod out of it... youve got to many possibilities

3D max issue and need it solved quickly my trial period is running out....Got 14 days left.

Something has happened to the program.
Yesterday it allowed me to texture models and today it won't.

I can select the texture (tga file by) going under bitmap in the material editor but I can't texture the model because the 'Assign Material to Selection" button is all greyed-out and unavaliable and I don't know why and don't know how to bring it back, I cannot understand why it's deciding to refuse to allow me to texture models anymore, it was going fine yesterday, (this is day 2 of the trial period) I do have the model selected, the 'assign button' should be avaliable to texture but its not. what's going on ?....

I couldn't find a VParticle emitter option, this is the demo version of max.

Drag the texture from the Material editor to you model that might assign it to the model if not then i don't know what the problem is.

You cannot drag textures out of the material editor to the 3d viewport
window....You can only drag a texture from the browser list or from the
sample window up into one of the avaliable sample picture slots
inside the material editor and then have to hit 'assign' to make it
texture the model in the 3d viewport window.

I've already solved the problem.

I have to first select Bitmap or one of the bitmap files in order
to access the c drive. Pick a tga texture...

Then I have to also go down to maps and then click a slot to load
in a texture. (then the assign texture to scene button is then avaliable) and
then I can texture it, but I don't know how to texture it in regions on the model
yet using different textures, I only know how to put a single texture on the model.

You don't need to press the assign button if u drag it to the model as it's the same as selecting the model and pressing the "Assign Material to selection" button.

The button that i think you are talking about is the "Show Map In Viewport" button... you don't really need to press that one if the texture is already assigned to the model it will still show in the render and should not give you any problems when u export it to .v3d .vcm or whatever....

But sure it can be a pain in the CENSORED to Unwrap the model later on if u cant get the Texture to show on the model in the viewport.

I see what you mean... You can drag only the default material mat textures to the model.

But as soon as I change from a mat texture to use Tga format, the "Assign Material to selection" button automatically greys out and you cannot drag anything tga over the model...It dosen't work.

The only way to beable to do it is to go down into maps and select another tga texture
using the same steps above. THEN I can drag the texture out to the model without having to hit the assign button.

I am using the demo version

I do not like working in 3d studio max, I don't like the program because its a pretty
complicated setup that comes with a help file that sounds like an over inflated
windbag full of Company Red Tape directed mostly to 3d marketing professionals
instead of to the layman user.

It is . Hence the price of a few thousand Dollars.
It's not made for hobby 3d artists, but it can be used by them.

I also dislike 3DS Max, but that's because I have very little experience in general 3D modeling. There are much easier solutions for beginning users, you've just got to look for less popular software.
