Well - We (Time will Tell) have just released our first public utility.

This small but handy program very simply compresses all files in your vpps into one massive vpp file.

Download is available from our website (Time will Tell) right now but soon to be posted on L4Y.

It sounds interresting and useful to avoid the bug when you have too many files in your map folder.

Make it harder to remove a map thou

It comes down to needing a VPP editor to remove maps, but it seems like that'd be less of a hassle than adding all the maps to the same VPP manually.

omg but it doesn't backup the vpps.
Once all in one vpp, you cant recover single vpps anymore.
I had a small test on it with a few vpps, and forgot to backup the vpps

VPPs to add should be chooseable. Not everybody wants every map in this pack, and once it's there you can't remove it easily anymore. YOu can remove the rfl file, but you won't know the corresponding TGA and WAV files.

Even weaponmodels will be added to the allmaps.vpp which makes removing them again a HUGE problem

I never had a problem with single VPPs..

Do not use this tool with weaponmodels in your multi folder. Cut them out before you do.

Acually frog, if you plan on using the weapon models for a long time... its a good idea...

Then again, i put all my HUDs, Weapon models etc in single and maps in multi so i wouldnt have this problem...

RF seems to have a bug with alot of vpps, this solves that.

The .vpp limit is not applicable anymore.

There may very well be a .rfl limit in RF itself; but it's a hell of alot higher

You are right about that. After a while the level with the names further down the list don't get read by Red Faction (the game). All though this make it easier to put a lot of .vpp into one .vpp. Think of it this way, you have REDFROG's maps in one .vpp, Wizard's level in another, Espear's in another, kiliad's in a separate one...Well you get the idea without having to mention mine and your levels.

And don't let me even get started about "adding/removing files to/from a 1GB+ vpp, and save it again"
Big VPPs, perhaps even above 50MB, are a pain because it takes ages to save them.
And I don't want to know what happens when a few bits are/become corrupted when saving/modifying it.

The program worked great for me digi! Good job! Now, only one question... After I download more maps and use mapsquish AGAIN, will it put it in the same file again, or into a second .vpp file?
