TO Digital_Ruler >I tested it over and over again, as i said ! Most tests
all went fine. I made sure no currupt file ( looked inside my ohwn test vpp's ) ..
before run the programm.

This is my idea.. Take ur time making a 2.0 version cause if this programm
works ITS JUST GREAT ! Now u seen what difficults pop up, i think u already
have new ideas to make it work. Go on whith ur good work.


BTW , have u.. or any other any idea wy RF some "packfile_limit" have , like i showed
before. ( pic below )

It says C because RF was designed in CROJECTSRF_PC on some volition computer

It doesn't matter at all if it's the programs fault, or errors on the user side. The program itself does not warn about these problems.
I did not say that the program fails.

I said the release was rushed because these now known (let me call them.. bugs could have been prevented and you know that.

0KB files, surely not an error of the program, but the program doesn't care and still try to do the job which causes massive errors. Programs should be designed to prevent those major failiures through more beta testing and deeper testing with all the known problems we have of VPPs.

Running the program twice is such an easy problem to think of.
You cannot keep yourself in the safety by saying: its been written somewhere to not do this.
You know that there are people not reading such messages, or want to see what happens if...

The program must first search for allmaps.vpp . If it finds something, end thread and pop up a message "ERROR allmaps.vpp found in the multi folder, mapsquish is not able to continue!" or something
"ERROR, 0byte file found in the multi folder! Mapsquish is not able to continue, remove the file"

Yes, we have asked for its removal and will be re-uploading when its gone through some more bug fixing.


Frog, the problem is that not all corrupt vpps are 0kb...

The beta 1.0 could have at least backed up the files before it messes with them.
Backing up is pretty stupid, though. It doubles the required disk space (2GB of maps will result in 4GB taken space..). Although you can compress them, which takes ages.

The program should be able to pick out single maps again. It should know which files correspond to a previously original VPP which is now in allmaps.vpp. (generates a text file which holds all the data)

Maybe ask the user if they want to make a backup before putting all files in 1 vpp, insted of forcing a backup or not having 1 at all?
