It still seems like yesterday when this place was setup, back in my first year at Uni as a pure HTML site.
3 months later I started to use PHP to create that HTML (3 months of manual text file editing updates!) and 8 months or so after launch started to use Unified.
Never looked back.
So here we are... the yearly thread to bump out some stats on the site. For some comparison, here is last years thread.
In the last year we've put on 17.3m page views (up from 13.7m for the previous 3 years combined) reaching just over 31m, making the past year highly successful.
On average theres 80-100 thousand unique IP addresses visiting the site per month (based on data since March 04) and recently almost 60,000 page views per day (around 47,300 per day averaged over the entire year). Not bad for a non commercial site 
Thankfully the server/Unified is happily coping with it all
As for files, we're rapidly approaching 11,000 files available and regularly churning out 50-70Gb per day is no mean feat either, up from 10-15Gb per day this time last year. Number of downloads has about doubled as well, from 2,000 to around 4,000 per day.
Just as last year the thanks go out to everyone here, especially the staff who help to keep things running, adding new files for you all to enjoy and download, posting news to keep you interested and informed and the users, obviously a rather important part of any site

There are two main reasons why, in my opinion at least, this site has grown so fast:
1.It has pretty much anything you could ever want or need for many popular PC games.
2.It has absolutely no connection whatsoever with Fileplanet.

I wouldn't like to speculate why (), but you'd be surprised how often I hear that... 
Its certainly not a rare opinion anyway
