I'm writing more and more of these recently it seems... with one FC staff having accommodation issues and hence no internet access and the other also being the Half-Life 2 Admin here, Farcry is a little understaffed at the moment...
In addition due to staff dissappearing into thin air in the UT2004 department, we've got an opening there as well.
So the usual info,
You should have a good written standard of English and a mature attitude.
Broadband is a must because with the files we deal with here, 56K simply cannot cope. Unless you want to help out 24/7 and still only manage to upload 3 files a week 
You should be prepared to put some time in here, it doesn't take much to post some news if you're in a hurry but managing the files we have here can sometimes take up a few hours per week.
We dont ask for much but it seems that some staff members we've taken on in the past think they get the forum rank 'badge' and all they need to do is parade around a bit. This is your friendly warning that you wont stay staff for long if you think thats it
To apply for either of the two above sections, click here and state a few things about yourself 
Once we've got all the applications in we'll decide who to take on and contact you then.
Finally, dont bother applying for any of the other sections. It happens everytime we ask for staff for particular sections. If the game you want to apply for isn't listed above, dont waste your time |

It seems not, despite adding that on there we've had people applying for other sections.
Now I know it appeared in every section but the title and the content of the news clearly states Farcry/UT2004. We ignore people who apply for the other sections based on the idea that if they can't read they cant write English either

There are still at least 3 staff members that are either UT2004 or UT Series staff. OutlawSkot, Dark Jon and Equinox. |

Yeah? Then why am I still waiting for an answer or some kind of help? The only person who stepped forward to attempt to help is RF staff. Could it be they need to be reminded why they are staff also? |

First off, the staff here aren't paid. They aren't on call. They do ALL of this VOLUNTEER. You shouldn't look down upon the staff because they haven't gotten a response to you. Perhaps they don't know the answer. Perhaps they've had tests at school and haven't had a chance to get online. Perhaps they took a vacation. They are obsessive about UT2004, but that doesn't mean they know everything.
Be grateful that we're here bringing you updates all the time. We're just like you. We like playing the games and also enjoy helping out others who play them as well. |

Next I never said anything out of the way or assumed they get paid. What I did was ask a question 3 days ago, and have yet to get any help, or even a link as to where to get some. Hell, I would be happy with even a post that says, "Hey, sorry I don't know."
Grateful for updates? Dude, I have been registered here for all of a week (maybe), and 0 downloads.
If you are this uptight for me asking someone on staff for help, I will go elsewhere. Sure would not do for me to expect staff to do what they are supposed to. Paid or not. |

So you are brand new to this site? I'm just curious as you seem to be a fan of Sorrows Red Faction maps and I didn't think she uploaded her maps elsewhere. Especially the last few. |

The staff isnt on call 24/7 to answer questions, like Wizard said. Not only do they have obligations to their own individual lives, but this site does need running, and to get that done the staff needs to put time into making updates through crowded bandwidths, news topics for us to gawk over, etc. Plus the staff doesnt have all the answers (minus NoClanFrank of course, that guy can answer anything ) if you want answers to a question ask some of the members of this site, some may know a solution to your problem.
Oh and one other thing...welcome to L4Y. Hope you enjoy your stay, however long it is.  |

You don't seemt to understand what I'm saying. I don't have an attitude, nor any anger or ill will toward you.
My point was that perhaps they don't know the answer. Posting an "I don't know" answer has a tendency to get flames when posted by staff. We get posts like "Well then why did you bother to post?" or "What the hell good are you?"
All I'm saying is that the staff do not conform to a strict schedule. They're here when they're here and its possible none of them have seen your post. If its dips down low enough, it doesn't show up on the Hot Topcs list on the right and not all of us browse through the Index all the time. It probably just got overlooked.
Yes, you may have been here only a week, and I understand that. You didn't say we get paid or anything of the sort, but I was trying to get across that we don't really have a set schedule for being here. Some show up daily, others show up once a week or so. It all depends on schedules. We do what we can, when we can. Its an all volunteer site.
I'm not being uptight. You are. You posted a question and want it answered right now, and thats not neccesarily the way it works around here. I understand you posted it 3 days ago, but there's no guaranteed reponse time. You ask for help, and help comes to you. You can't force it.
Also, just because a Red Faction Staff member may have offered help, doesn't mean its any less helpful. We all play a number of games, not just the ones we're staff for.

That's true, Schmageggy, You know Red Faction, its MP maps but you never registered before. You always managed by yourself with all the possible problems encountered but you can't find an answer to a question about UT2004, with all the fantastic sites devoted to it.
And you lose your patience after 3 days.  |

That would be 0 UT2004 Downloads. Never registered till recent cause I had no need to. Downloading can be done without registering here. So yes, RF downloads have been gotten from here, CI and some from RFView.

See above for most of that answer. As for the question, and you misconception of my patience. I registered becaue there seemed to be quite a number of UT2004 files here, so I assumed that the staff would be helpful. When you go to some of the UT2004 sites the answers are not easy to find, and the staff less than helpful. That is if they are around at all.
The first comment I made was intended as a joke. It is obvious to me there are some who did not recognize that. Then everyone else ha to jump on my [Censored] for it. To me that is ood since I said nothing out of the way. Only asked for help. No worries though peeps. Won't make that mistake again here. |
