Ghostkid, Have you got any Computer Fairs that are organised near you? I do, www.nitex.co.uk.
Finding these will result in you finding some neat, but sometimes cheap, stuff to buy. |

But i would not know what i would be doing so. I dont have any computer shops in my area. but my dad could bring me to one. its from a friend of him.
Thought if i would eventually build it myself, OR buy a prebuild, how much money would i need ?
Another option, my current computer isgetting a bit outdated:
Processor:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.0GHz
Memory:
1024 MB Ram
Video Card:
NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT
Sound Card:
Realtek AC97 Audio
Is it possible to update My processor and Video card, would this be cheaper ? or am i better off buying a new one ? |

Personally, I wouldn't bother getting a DX10 card just yet. You can get a fairly equal DX9 card for half the price. If you decide to build it yourself I highly recommend Newegg. |

Well, that 8800GT currently marks around the same as the 8800GTX, so.... Getting that will dominate any DX9 card you will find, even the 7950GX2 dual gpu vid card.
Also, you'll be future proof'd and able to play any DX10 game with all it's splendor, using effects that cannot be used with DX9(WinXP).
Though, if you aren't in a hurry for DX9 and want a rather cheap solution for now, NewEgg has an eVGA 7600GT at $90 up for grabs.

I purchased the eVGA 7600GT KO when NewEgg still sold it to replace a dead 7900GT, and while the memory bandwidth isn't quite 256-bit, it still performs rather well in everything, including Crysis on Med/High. |

Buying a DX10 video card also means you need a copy of Windows Vista to go along with it. Vista requires even higher specs than XP to run games smoothly due to a large amount of unnecessary operating system perks. |

Ah, but not true anymore. You don't need Vista for an DX10 card, however, may as well. And the Vista service pack that was recently released fixes a lot of the performance issues whilst using Vista. If you get Vista Ultimate though, you can only expect performance issues due to the crap that's with it. Just grab Vista Home Premium or Vista Business.
But then again though, it all depends on your budget and what you're willing to get. |

No, but you do, however, need Vista to run DX10 and use any of its features. Windows XP is not being updated for DX10 and will only support DX9. As for other operating systems, I don't recommend them to someone who has no experience with installing an OS before, there's just too much that can go wrong. |

Quoting L4Y Infernus | Its just like installing a new game. |
No, not really. Depending on the Os and your hardware you may need to install drivers before installing your OS, which can be a pain in the CENSORED .. |

Quoting L4Y Infernus | Installing OS's are / is easy. You just gotta find the balls to format your drives, boot off the CD and install. Its just like installing a new game. |
Well the OS wont be a problem to instal because i've done that a million times.
Though i would like an answer on my question if it would be better to upgrade my old computer,
if not.
I wouldnt like a DX10 card, because i hate vista as i allready have it installed (as a multi-boot) and half of my hardware doesnt work. nothing else then trouble with vista.
I also checked the prices from the list you gave me. all together it was 753,97 $, but i do think that it will be much more expensive in europe. + i've never done this before. i only upgraded some stuff in my computer.
So i'm thinking about a prebuild again. my budget is somewhere around € 1000 , wich would be 1448 USD. Can i get a good computer with that ? or would it require more ? |
