Hey,
i have this old computer wich was full of trash (because my brother likes to download bad stuff. and accept every file he gets. So i thought i'l format the HD and reinstall windows. So i did,
i inserted my motherboards driver CD to install the drivers . everything seemed to go ok. it was completed, had to reboot a few times, then i got some music on it to get some entertaining things. when i tryed to play it i got the error there where no speakers attached, but they are. so i tryed in different stuff (WMP, Winamp, Itunes,..) nothing made sound. so i download tons of other drivers to try and nothing worked. so i tryed different windows versions (custom) wich had Loads of driver preinstalled. still did'nt work. i spent like 4 hours searching the problem. nothing worked. the thing is when i got this com^puter drivers where allready installed from the cd and it worked well. i thought well. no sound isnt a big deal. it can still do the job (Games, Msn, Xfire, ...) I was wrong, not a single game wanted to start, all giving an error Direct X was not installed, so i installed it (though i thought it was allready). still it said it was'nt installed.)
So i thought maybe the driver cd is broken, i checked for scratches but it did'nt have a single one. but i went to download exactly the same drivers that are on the cd, Still no results.
I don't know what to do to make it work. because it was a usefull computer to use for leaving it on for things like Dedicated servers and stuff..
Please help! |

Well, every time I reinstall windows, I have to use my other computer to download drivers, being that my ethernet driver isn't installed to get on the internet to even download them! So, I type into google.com my computer name and model # drivers, so i.e. Dell Dimension 9999 drivers.
After I get internet working and all those drivers are installed, I then go back and try to find updated drivers of what I just downloaded/installed, and everything works fine.  BTW, a directx problem is probably due to a video card driver. |

everything works fine except sound. so i can browse internet..
Ok got the sound to work:
but now RF still doesnt work. in setup it says i have version 9 of DirectX but when i tryed to start RF i get this message, Any Help ?

What are the specs of the comp?
If its something around (and any below) Radeon x1650, then you will have to use old drivers.
Do any other (big) games work? |

havent tryed others yet. the specs are RIDICOUSLY Low,
It has Like 200 MB RAM and a graphic card (onboard) wich can barely run RF on high.
it even has problems running CS 1.6 
also onboard soundcard. everything onboard actually |

Wow, i havent seen that error in a while. If i remember right ,mobo's with via north birdge chips require 4 in 1 drivers . Hyperion drivers. I'm not sure what you are running ,but the lack of these drivers will cause that fault

its by some company called SiS,
i've never heard about it before i got that computer, (well when i bought it- 3 years ago it was only 170 $) |
