i am now realising how sad people are getting, today someone enters a server with the name "at base" when he has the flag, now people on his team started saying change name or ban, now i said are you guys seriously going to kick someone or ban them just for having thier name as at base.
the name is not offending, now i challenged this and every body said its something to do with the strings saying he picked up the flag or that he was at base with the flag, now if it was something to do with the strings then they should change them.
and when i put the name at base on i was told to change it because of server rules, i looked this up in their fourms and it did not say anything about having the name at base on, you would get kicked, so just some stupid idiots who take rf to seriously.
and if you were one that was complaining, you need to go out side more! |

Well I've never come across that one before.
Maybe you should test them out with names like "I win", "You lose" or "Get a life".
What would "Missing" do? If its related the the flag? |

No biggie.. but the person who controls the server makes the rules. Changing a dumb name shouldn't be a problem.
I kick those people after one warning if they dont change their (often offending) name such as Hitl€r..etc.
The system of RF should not be confused by the players name...its just the other players that might get confused |

I think the degree of offense a name should be allowed should depend on the game's rating. I'm often asked to change my name in mature-rated games, usually because young children play on those servers. I try and respond with something like "Mild language isn't allowed, yet simulated killing of other people is acceptable?" at which point I usually get banned.  People need to learn to grow up and be more reasonable with their name changing requests. |

ah yes your right, looking in the corner might not help, but i check my score and check to see who has the flag using tab button |

Banned for being default. Don't people know that sometimes when the game crashes, your name switches back to default. 
One the other hand, I think I have played a lot of players using the name Default, but I just can't prove that is was more than one of them. |

It's a real problem for me when someone is named at base. I'm used to looking at that botom left box and nowhere else to know if our flag is at base or not.
It's pretty annoying if you don't know where your flag is. I 'm really pissed when someone's name is "at base". It's a cheat! |

lol. That would require me to look at my keyboard. I never get my eyes off the screen while playing, specially when I have the flag and I'm getting back to my base.
"At base" is really the most annoying possible name in RF for non Rcon holders.
Rcon holders have problems with names that are hard to reproduce like ........... or special symbols |

at base was entertaining back in the day to screw with people for a few minutes, but it quickly got anoying. Now everyone knows it and it's just stupid to use it.
It is still a rather dumb reason to ban someone though... |

I play with the arrows. I need to look at my keyboards to see the w. I never ever use the w key. My keyboard is dimly enlightened. I know where the arrow keys are and that"s all i use ingame. It could be worse. I could use one of those flashy pads for gammers that is supposed to replace keyboard.
Using At Base as a pseudonyme has only one purpose "annoy other players by fooling them or forcing them to play an unusual way for them".And it's obvious! No need to speculate over the possible use of a cheating programe. There are very few good reasons to ban someone but if you decided to take a silly name in the sole purpose of annoying opponents players then are told several time to change your name by several players but refused to abide by the rule, i suppose you deserve at least to be kicked. |
