Hey, I think a topic about unpopular, but great games is in order.

No spamming in my topic or I will brand offenders with a personal jihad. Opinions, links, previews, and videos are a welcome addition, just NO offtopic spam.

This is not a topic for HL2, Crysis, COD4, Doom3, Quake4, RTCW, BF2/2142, or any other popular current gen game or franchise. I do NOT want to read anything about comparing quality to or between these games. Also, this is NOT a place for console games. PC games only.

If you want to post about a newer game (2007 - now) which may not be getting the attention it deserves post the title in red

If you want to post about a older game (stone age - 2006) then post the title in green.

Follow the following format when you post a game, or die.

Title (year) genre

OK, here we go.

Secret Service: In Harms Way (2001) FPS

Description:
A game ahead of it's time with great potential but horrible execution. You play as an agent enlisted in the secret service whose job is to protect various major political figures.

pros:
Destructible objects, lots of weapons, excellent weapon animations, multiplayer mode with various gametypes, realistic hitboxes, decals on bodies, extremely buggy (fun) ragdoll physics, really good for a budget game, fun single player mode.

cons:
Lots of glitches, stupid predictable AI, faulty collision detection, rare crashing, multiplayer browser lockups, other misc multiplayer bugs with 3+ players, bad voice acting (no too horrible, but still bad), more bugs, no modding capabilities, game has been abandoned, non-exsistant community, no online muliplayer tracker (supports LAN only).

Opinion:
I personally got this game for free, my uncles PC couldn't run it at the time so he gave it to me. Best free game iv'e ever gotten lol. There IS a sequel called Secret Service: Security Breach. I could not find it anywhere so I had to resort to the underside of the internet to obtain it. It was not developed by the same company, but thats not the point. The point is the sequel is trash. DO NOT buy it, it's a linear roller coaster of pain and agony. If you spend money on this game I will hunt you down and kick you in the nuts or punch you in the boob until you fall unconscious from the pain.

There is a way to play a game like this online, there is a program called Hamachi that can create networks other people can connect to that your PC treats like a LAN which could enable online play.

Space Empires 5 (2006) sci-fi TBS (turn based stragety)

Description:
You can play or make your own race with its own attribute bonuses. Your goal is to colonize planets, destroy, liberate, or ally with other empires to win.

Pros:
Down to the last letter and component unit/ship customization, typical game can last 24+ hours, 3D realtime encounters with enemy fleets or ground troops, tons of technology research, easy extensive modding capabilities, 3D solar system layout, multiplayer functionality, very supported game, strong community.

Cons:
Steep learning curve, lag issues, turns take a long time to process in bigger games, small annoying GUI redundancies and annoyances, simplistic AI (though there are mods which improve it), some minor bugs.

Opinion:
Probably the best TBS ive ever played, im not much of a TBS player but this game is so much fun. There is so much to this game, learning it is a tedious process but its fun once you get down the concept and what you can do. If you like TBS games, give this a shot, its a game with great potential.

Thief 3: Deadly Shadows (2004?) FP adventure

Description:
You play as a thief named Garret, Your job is to survive the streets and make a living until our hero is drawn into a unraveling story of mysery and deception. This game is really unique with stealthy gameplay, unique art style, and change of pace from most typical FP games..

Pros:
You are a thief, immersive story, intresting character personalities, modding capabilities, Player equipment can interact with the enviornment and other objects more than you would think, semi non-linear gameplay.

Cons:
thiefs are weak, thiefs cant swim, mild crash and hanging issues, Broken separated small communities, no support, Silly AI, equipment is expensive.

Opinion:
One of my most favorite games, I love the setting of the game and how everything was executed. One of the best things I like about this game is that the gameplay is a refreshing change of pace from pretty much any other first person game out there. You can choose to sneak, avoid, distract, intimidate, kill, or disable your enemies. Rather than the typical run and gun type games. AI will actually surrender or react to situations in ways most AI in other games don't. It's a shame there wasn't more, but hey it has a level editor.
