Hey,

I want some entertaiment Gaming? at my bedroom. i was thinking about buying a new TV. then get it hookedWired ? up with 360 & PS2.

Or would it be better (& cheaper) to get a HTPC and use a computer monitor?
(i'd also get a tv-card for it so i can watch tv to.)

I need some advice with this.
It would be handy to have a second computer at my room.
Not for gaming. Have my other pc for this

Thanks

I KNOW you can hook up a 360 to a computer monitor. I think its called an HDMI cable or port (cant remember).

It might be possible to hook up a tv to a tower, I am unsure.

It really comes down to what works best for you and how much money your willing to spend.

I know, and if it cant connect i'l just get some converter. But i'll probably get a HD ready tv anyway so.

But i'm just wondering what would be best, A new tv or just a good PC monitor with a HTPC.
a (good) new tv would cost me like € 350-450
A pc monitor € 75 - 150.
But i have no idea about HTPC's

(Also, with a htpc i can record and pause live tv. wich is a great thing.)

Well, I have an HP TV connector. I hook it up to my cable box, then I work it on my PC, and I love it! OR, you can just get the connector, which should be RCA to HDMI/VGA, depending, and it will just Transfer the picture from the tv to the Computer. Godd Luck!

Well do you want an HTPC or do you want a gaming computer? lol

If you want an HTPC an simple build will do. E2200, 2GB RAM, budget mobo, GeForce 8500GT. GeForce 8400GS even... Basically you need something for movie playback.

As for a tv... Just grab an LCD TV display and plug it up to the HTPC. You can purchase off of NewEgg

What video card do you have? Its very possible that you have the hardware you need. My video card has VIVO and I love it to death.

Entertainment: Buy an old Xbox, softmod it, and install XBMC. Stream videos over LAN for epic win.

Gaming: Buy a pc and run HDMI out to your TV.

My Xbox 360 can allready do that

Assman, I have nothing. i'm not gonna use my current computer for it.

Sobe, I want a HTPC with a lcd/tft (Whats the difference?) monitor. or i want a tv.
It doesnt need to be able to run games. its only for checking the internet and that sort of stuff.
also i want a tv-tuner card in it.

A tv + a HTPC will be Way to expensive (As i dont want to get some old non HD tv)

I suggest going with a monitor rather than a TV. The NTSC television standard only runs at 640x480 in standard definition, and PAL can't be far off from that. Text is a real eyesore on television sets, also.

HDTV's are still fairly low resolution compared to computer monitors, and text can still be a pain to read.

Looks like a pretty good TV too. It's kind of small at 19in, but, while it's not a full HD TV, it will still do 1440x900 over HDMI. HDMI = DVI and you can get a cable to convert a computer's DVI port into an HDMI plug.

I know its not big but i dont need a big tv at my bedroom. its close to my bed/couch so.
& it will mostly be used for my X360 & PS2. And possibly my PS3 in the future.
