For the past few days, the staff of NebulaMods.com have been organizing a tournament against the developers of our favorite game: Volition.
The tournament kicks off with a 30-minute CTF warmup in a private server with a password which will be PMed to all players that sign up. We have a public DM server up now, which will be left running throughout the event as well as private CTF matches which will pit a team of Volition employees against teams consisting of Red Faction community members.
If anyone is interested in playing in the private CTF game, public DM game, or any of the matches vs. Volition teams can sign up by registering on NebulaMods.com and posting in this thread: [Link]

Not custom maps this time, possibly in the future.
We didn't have long to organize it and get everyone custom maps this time around. We shall see about later 
The warmup server is up, CTF. The password is in the first post of the forum topic on NebulaMods.com.

In both matches (a 5v5 and a 4v4) verus the community, the community won in caps, but Volition won in frags. We then all played in a public CTF for a while.

We (at NebulaMods) and Volition will be organizing another bigger and better tournament soon, most likely including custom maps for those who are interested. Anyone interested in possibly getting their favorite custom maps played can PM me on NebulaMods.com. |

That was the most populated private, passworded server that I have ever seen in my entire life. 
Red Vein is a friend of mine, that wasn't him posting as "Red Vein" on L4Y before. |

Wooo go community team! Too bad there wasn't enough for a full team of Volition members but it still looks like it was fun. I'm glad to know the upcoming release of RF:G has stirred up a bit of interest in the original game again. |

I'm also in the process of planning a bigger and better community vs. Volition tournament with Volition for a later date. Most likely including custom maps, that should interest everyone

try not to be such a control freak next time ... it was kinda getting on my nerves having to hop from server to server just because it is not your teams turn  ... screw that ... just dump everyone in a server and let them work it out ...
organized fun is not fun at all ... now chaos theory on the other hand
me, redfrog, sobe, X-Tream, and cyrus were having fun just screwing around in a MW server crashing jeeps into a pit, running each other over, and ramming each other ... there really was organization whatsoever (and little gameplay ... we were testing a run map)... we just did whatever we decided to do at the moment ... an organized match with arranged teams wouldn't of been as fun 
I admit i got there late ... but i honestly think things were a little too wound up ... there was really no need for the team rotation thing
hell, if i set up a volition vs community thing id just use a 64 player server crack, extra geomod, play large custom maps, and let everyone join ... |

I can pick out 3 things in that statement which would make the server crash
We had organized matches because Volition wanted them. Next time we will have public games along with some organized matches most likely. |

If you had everybody doing whatever they wanted, it would be just like a public server. You'd have 3 people endlessly tunnelling and 5 or 6 people who don't know what they're doing and it wouldn't be a fun or even match. The point of this is to pit Volition vs. the community.... I think you need some structure, otherwise the match won't end up being fun.
Also, I don't think I'd want to play in a 64 player server unless it's hosted on T3. |
