There is a new Battlefield 1942 community update on the official website, offering an update on the map contest and the 1.6 patch (including a list of mods currently incompatible with this upcoming release).

If you haven't tried this game yet, you need to. I'm not going to guarantee that you'll love it like me and Smokemon do, but chances are you will like one of the 15 or so mods made for it! I'll warn you now though, make sure you have at least a 128 MB graphics before you buy, cause the minimum 64 MB will not cut it. |

BF1942 is the bomba. I played it when it first came out, then my son took the disks with him to Armyland. I have a basically new system.. now I can't play. Little Army Nerd!!  |

Wish you two would try CoD. I think you would like it even better. Not that BF 1942 is not good, cause it is, but CoD is even better. IMO Besides it would be fun to play you again. |

I have played CoD, I even have it. I just didn't like the MP. The single player was fun and the story was good, but the MP just doesn't have the staying power that BF's does, I think. At least in BF, you can play the mods like Desert Combat and Eve of Destruction, which are all we play, we don't even play the regular BF42 often.
Besides, being able to get in tanks, planes, choppers, etc is a lot of fun. Better than all the time infantry, which I like too sometimes, but it's always nice to have someone in an Apache over head watching your arse.  |
