Version 2.1 released (November 6th)
Your game should automatically update. If not, you can download a manual update file here (overwrite the purebeta.dll you currently have).
Changes:
Packfile space has been increased:
Previously, RF could load a maximum of 13500 files from vpps and upon reaching this limit in having lots of custom maps installed, the game would exit giving an error message "Out of packfile space". You can type GetVpps in console to view your current VPP/Packfile status. If you have 256/256 vpp files loaded, you will need to remove some until you have less than 256, or the automap downloader will not function. NOTE: The 256 VPP file limit still exists, but will be removed next update.
Player Mute:
You can now press F5 and then click on a player name to mute all their chat messages. You will still be able to view their chat in the console.
Coloured Server Names:
Servers running the most recent version of Pure Faction will now show up in a different colour.
Freezing Fix:
Some of you (mostly P4 users) complained about getting intermittent freezes with version 2.0. This bug should not happen anymore.
Automatic Map Downloader Fix:
Maps with IDs longer than 3 characters were not downloading correctly. This has been fixed.
Crashing Bug:
Fixed a bug where if you were killed in damaging water, there was a small chance of a crash.
Pure Faction 2.0 released (30th October 2008):
Current Features:
Automatic Map Downloader
When you try to join a server running a map you don't have, Pure Faction gives you the option to automatically download and install it without closing your game. The map server has over 1400 maps in the database.
New In Game Graphical User Interface (GUI)
Pressing F1 in game pops up a menu allowing you to use your mouse to select the desired action.
First Person Spectate
From the GUI you can click on Spectate, then select a player from the list to view the game through their eyes.
Super Lazyban
You can use the GUI to Kick or Ban players just by clicking on their names.
New Scoreboard
A new scoreboard showing players kills and deaths, along with giving mappers the recognition they deserve. More statistics will be added to the scoreboard with updates.
Resolution Fix
Play the game at any resolution you please with a working HUD. The game will no longer crash if you take a screenshot at high resolutions. You can also play in windowed mode or a fullscreen mode which allows you to alt tab (minimize/maximize). Widescreen resolutions are now fully supported (set it using the PFLauncher).
Auto-Updater
Pure Faction will always keep itself up to date. You do not even need to close your server or client and the game will update itself. This feature allows me to update the program very easily, and there will be frequent updates.
Mouse changes
Mouse lag has been reduced by at least 8.5ms, the dual monitor bug has been fixed, and mouse precision has been improved. As with the old Pure Faction, you can set your mouse sensitivity very precisely with the ms command in console (for example type "ms 0.055")
Server statistics
The server now keeps detailed statistics on players, and players can view some of these by typing statsme in chat. This will be greatly advanced with updates coming over the next few weeks.
Glitch fixes
Almost every weapon glitch in the game has been fixed serverside (e.g. invisible bullets, using batton to fire free bullets, etc). Infinite ammo hacks such as "Myth", and rapid fire mods are also blocked serverside. Wall peeking, and the speed bug are also blocked.
Security fixes
There are dozens of security fixes in Pure Faction, both client and serverside. Dozens of netcode based exploits such as renaming other players are also blocked. Players with unkickable or multi line names are automatically renamed.

Some features have been temporarily disabled, as they are not quite finished, and there are many other small changes and fixes, some of which I will add information about later.[/url]

just tested PF2.0.
Bugs:
a) When i tick "allow alt+tab" PurefactionLauncher refused to start the game. Got an error "critical error occur cant initilize Directx8 critical error in modul gr_dircetx.vpp line 1885. When i un-check this, it works fine.
b) Cant Chat when in spectate mode.
Are there any Cheatblockers activated ? Or do they only work on PF Servers ?
Contact Button on your Homepage doesnt work. Firefox 3.0

Nice work, havent tried out out yet as I dont have my RF disks where I am to reinstall RF yet (getting them at weekend).
What maps are supported by the autodownload? Where are the maps coming from? |

I have a much better card. But still don't require PF to play it.
I recommend every Red Faction player to get Pure Faction 2.0 - warmly.
I finally got to test it out myself, and my prophecies come true.
PF2.0 opens the new era of Red Faction.
The auto download feature alone is worth the use of it.
Pure Faction in combination with NebulaMods.com support is one of the best things ever happened to RF. |

Right now, there are 1468 supported maps. Some are listed here, the ones with screenshots/descriptions. The rest of the 1400+ are in the database and available for autodownload, but not public on the site yet.
Levels are downloaded from NebulaMods.com if you hit "Download Now!" when joining a server on a map you don't have. When the download finishes (progress bar on bottom), the level is automatically loaded into the game and you can rejoin the server without even restarting the game!
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to upload any and all levels you have and find, especially if they are played often.
Remember, any levels uploaded to NebulaMods.com are made available on the Pure Faction automatic map downloader. |

I got the same message as RED-FROG - i'm using Avira AntiVir, too.
I know that its only Avira AntiVir, but it would be good if you may can fix that. |
