If its tripping an antivirus scanner im about 70% sure its either the Automatic Map Downloader or the Auto-Updater
when programs get anything from the net it normally makes antivirus programs agitated  ... |

Sounds very cool. I'll try it out to see if it feels different than the last PF, but if it doesn't feel like I'm playing the original RF, I still won't use it. |

First of all this. I was never agains PF in any way ! So to make clear about that.
But !
In my opinion, PF2 should have an option to choose if clients want to update
or not. There was no warning at all PF2 will use TCP ports to conect to
websites, IP or Ports that not belong to the standard RF IP and Port. I don't
like it that unofficial software opens my TCP port to do what ever the other
side want or would like to do.
I made a post on RF-O forum about it , including screens. Its up to everyone's own
opinion about what was written there. Again, not to flame or bring down PF in any
way !

So, with that said...if you're worried about auto-updates...download Wireshark and look at what data is being sent.

Maybe after that, you should post. Otherwise, all you're basically saying is "PF checks for updates automatically"... which most programs do. And any decent anti-cheat (like PunkBuster) will *need* auto-updates. |
Most points your right. But thoose programms are registered as official software for your
OS , and it has always the option to update or not . In this case software was installed and
the client has no idea in any way its seeking acces to un official websites that belongs to
unofficial software. Its up to anyone who wants to use it, i just post what happens if you
use it because it was not written anywhere at all.  As long its not officially registered,
it means its up to you to use it. I will use PF , just i close all my TCP ports

Bugs:
- No download bar. (Though sometimes i get to see it.)
- When playing DM you still have 2 teams in playerlist
- Bug? - I can skip reloads again (in pure servers) |

I don't think you mean skip reload - i think you mean delay reload. Currently you always have to reload the gun, but you can change away and reload it later. Changing away from empty guns will be a serverside option. I'd appreciate it if people email me bugs they find rather than posting on forums, as I don't read forums often.

What the auto updater does was posted on the main page of the site:
"Auto-Updater
Pure Faction will always keep itself up to date. You do not even need to close your server or client and the game will update itself. This feature allows me to update the program very easily, and there will be frequent updates."
FYI, when the game checks for updates, it downloads a 3 byte file which contrains a version number |

I cannot begin to explain how wrong you are. Have you even looked at the screenshot of the problem the vscanner found? |
It would be nice if you would explain why im wrong politely rather than flame-and-run ... its not like i said "PF IS A TROJANZ!1!1! ANDz NOT TEH GOOD KIND!" I didn't even say i was completely sure ... i said 70% 
I suggested the Map Downloading function or the Auto-Updater because they both download (a) file(s) from the net, the virus scanner notices this segment of code and thinks its doing something nasty ...
I mean its listed as a trojan right? thats what the TR stands for im guessing ... and the executed code probably has similarties to a trojan ... that stuff happens to auto-downloader type programs ...
Hell, my launcher was flagged for something like that too  ...
But its probably harmless so who cares? |
