DreamCatcher Games has finally released a multiplayer demo for Painkiller, following the two single player demos and the retail release of the game several months ago. The 137mb demo comes with two maps, two game modes, four player skins and all the updates from the recent 1.3 retail patch.
A new patch for the full version of the game is available as well, updating v1.3 to v1.3.1. The incremental update fixes a bug involving the loading of a saved game.

I was playing a bit yesterday, not bad!
Apart from the stupid people still jumping around like Rabbits.
Nearly bought the full version today, but something in my head said NO!

This is the first time I'm trying Painkiller.
I would say there's a 80% overlap between this game and Quake III Arena. And as the replica it is, Painkiller functions poorly. It's much more laggy thanks to the horrible GameSpy Arcade, to the point where there's a 5-second delay for all actions on even the lowest-pinged servers (~90ms).
Just about the only thing I like is the music.
Almost not even worth 20 minutes of download... |

Forget the demo, I have the real deal.
What they need to release is the darn editor, with instruction how to use them. The default maps have gooten borring and the reason why I don't play it any more. |

HMMMM this game also came out too soon. I mean as soon as it was released you needed a patch if you had a DVD rom drive. 
My solution (and it worked better) was the NoCD crack. I bought the game so I don't have a problem using it.
The single player is good too. It will help if you read the booklet that it came with. Many helpful hints.  |

Foe has PK and loves to play it. That is when she is not playing COD. It has similar play to Q3, fast paced and loads of action. NCF is right about the editor, but it is supposed to be coming in the fall with the expansion pack. |

My game magazine (pcpp) gave painkiller a Game of High Destiniction(87).rating
Game of high Destiniction for:
Distilled FPS godness with a few cool tricks against bad music
Overall:Meaty,Nasty,tricky,spooky and just plain fun!

expansion pack? lets hope that they dont expan the single player that ended and i dont see how they can continue from that if they do they would just wreck the story line.
multiplayer yes they could expan that and maybe add bots thats the thing thats always missing in new games nowadays they never think of the people who ont have the net or just like to play on there own in some good fragging fun. but hey it doesnt worry me.....Yay for broadband |

I personally need it to start off where it ended. At the end I was left hanging and couldn't believe that after all the fragging they ended it that way. I hope the expansion pack does include a editor and people learn the editor quickly so I can have some fragging fun with other people,
