Is it just me or is the version 2 picture made to look a bit crappy and blurred to make version 3 look alot better. Decent looking engine but hardly a giant leap.

I read a while ago that the makers of the unreal engine calculated how long it would take before we would have photorealism in games.
They calculated we'd need PC's roughly 40,000 times powerful than what is availible today but it could be a reality within the next 15 years!!!
Please don't quote me exactly here, I read it a while ago and that was all I could remember
For photo realism graphics I pretty sure you would need the invention of quantum computers because they wont be able to make a binary computer thats 40,000 times more powerful than ones today. It could happen.
Personally I like a game to look like a game.

I agree, gameplay is still the most important factor in a game. look at Red Faction for instance... still the best
