Konami have plans for Metal Gear Solid 4

The fans of Metal Gear Solid can relax; number three will not be the final game in the series.

If you look at it from an economic point of view, it is not very surprising thet Konami will make another Metal Gear Solid game, but many feared that Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater should be the final game in the series. The reason for this is that Konami themselves have called it "the last episode in the Metal Gear Solid-trilogy", in a trailer for the game.

Eventually, Konami-boss Motoyuki Yoshioka himself has confirmed that the company will continue to make new games in the series. He has also stated that they have a lot of ideas for Metal Gear Solid 4, and have had them for a long time. He won't say any more specific, which might be wise regarding that the third game is not out yet.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will be released in the USA next wednesday, while the japanese will have to wait till december, and the europeans will get it some time next year.

So basically there is another Metal Gear game but solid will not be in it. Also they might lose their director too. If they bring that blonde chap back I will not be happy. Maybe in 4 they will let you save during 40 minute long cutscenes.

Liquid Snake has the latent inability to die.

I believe you are thinking of Raiden who hasta be by far the worst character I have ever seen in a video game thus far. I'm glad this isnt going to be the last game because from all that has been released, this game actually takes place in the past! I could be wrong though, because I have not read much on the game since the first little tidbits of news and screens/movies were released. Perhaps MGS4 will finally kill off Ocelot/Liquid. That--er--those pieces of crap really deserve to die and I would SO enjoy another battle with Ocelot.

Yep it is set in the 60's I think. I'm confused about them getting rid of solid because at the end of two he said he was going off to get the bad guys didn't he?, my memory could be playing tricks on me.

Ah correction...
<SPOILER ALERT (DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED METAL GEAR SOLID 2)>:

At the end of MGS2, Liquid fully posessed Ocelot's body through his arm and escaped Arsenal Gear inside of a M.G. Ray with Soild Snake close behind. Liquid said he had "chosen" Ocelot because he knew where the Patriots were. Snake came back after the final battle with Solidus to ask Raiden what he would do next. After the credits rolled (if you bothered to watch that far), you hear a conversation between Snake and Otacon where Otacon reveals that the Patriots were normal people and that one of them was even a great provider to Philanthrope (the anti-Metal Gear group Snake is in). He also said that each and every one of them were dead and that they had died over a century ago. Snake's response: "What the hell...?"

<SPOILER ENDED>

Also, I have heard that you dont actually play as Snake in MGS:Snake Eater, rather you play as Big Boss whose DNA, if you remember correctly, was used to create 2 clones, Solid and Liquid Snake.

I can't believe I didn't watch the credits . Thanks for the info Viper. Yeah I was confused why they called this the solid snake trilogy when you play the role of Big Boss in this one. Maybe his codename was also solid snake.
