Atari and Firaxis has announced that Sid Meier's Pirates! is finished. Very soon you can have the pirates in your own living room.
What might be called a hybrid of actiongames, RPGs and strategygames is now finished developing and has gone gold. Atari will release the game december 3d, and will have the game ready for christmas shopping (how surprising).
In Sid Meier's Pirates! you play as a pirate captain in the Caribean ocean in the 17.th century, and will explore big oceans, fight dangerous battles at sea and go through exciting duels. You start out as a lower ranged pirate-wannabe, and work your way up from there. Preferably, you will end up as a captain with a black badge and a wooden leg.
The developers promise lots of new possibilities, together with enhanced possibilities from the original. Sid Meier's Pirates! is running on a new game-engine, which is said to deliver stunning 3D-graphics and beautiful surroundsound. Other games running on the Gamebryo-engine are big games like Morrowind and Dark Age of Camelot.
The game will also be released in a special edition, with a lot of bonus material, among them a Sid Meier's Pirates!-t-shirt and a map showing the Pirates' gamingworld. |
