The short term plans for keeping the fantasy everyone expects.
EverQuest II is obviously a big title for Sony Online. EverQuest is still the most successful 3D massively multiplayer online role-playing game out there. Its persistent world has continued to change through updates and expansion packs. EverQuest II will be no different. The game is designed to grab people and hold them for the long run. Its predecessor proves the license has all of the necessary ingredients to keep players coming back for more, so the question is what does Sony Online have planned for this sequel?
When asked, Sony Online's official list of things they'll be doing in the near future reads thusly:
# Continue to address any issues people find in the game.
# Release additional optional audio next week to help bring the world even more to life.
# Add UI enhancements and features to make the artisan path more entertaining and easier to use.
# Create additional content for solo players based on feedback from the community.
# Implement additional quests across the board so there's even more to do.
# Add more art next month to address animation issues.
# Place more effects to the Heroic opportunities system to make them even more visually dynamic.
# Hook up a test server for those players who enjoy contributing directly to the development process.
# Continue to put additional servers online as the population increases.
Said about EverQuest2:
"EverQuest 2 is one of the most beautiful games I've seen. Some gamers tend to prefer the more stylized graphics of World of Warcraft but for the strength of its visual details, EverQuest 2 is a real joy to look at. The lighting and textures are almost photorealistic. The blur that filters your vision underwater, the particle effects of the magical lights, the foliage of the trees -- all these features put EverQuest 2 in a category normally reserved for cutting edge shooters. When you add in the artistic details, things like shelves upon shelves of books in the magic Academy or the individual muscle shading on the character models, you've got a game that not only looks great now but will continue to improve with advances in graphics hardware." |
