What if the nazis had won?

Imagine what would have happend if the allied sabotage at the heavywater production in Rjukan, Norway had failed? That is the starting point for the new FPS game East Front.
World War 2 could have had a different ending, granted that the nazis had been able to lay their hands on the nuclear bomb. In East Front, this is what happens after an unexplainable accident in the occupied Norway prevents the allied from sabotaging the german heavywater plans. Because of this, the germans get to strong for the allied forces; the russians loose all country west of the Ural-mountains, and the allied have to sign a very unfair treaty. The conclusion of this is that the germans are winning the WW2.

Frightening experiments
Six years later, a strong resistanse is fighting all over the german area. One of the major fighters, Karl Stolz from the german underground army named Night Front, is captured by the nazis and taken to a psychiatric hospital where he is the target for weird experiments. He can't remember anything from the experiments themselves, but they have a scary effect on his body.
A short time after the experiments, he manages to escape, surprisingly aided by the main doctor at the hospital. When he gets back to the main office of the resistanse, he has alot to tell, and the leader is sending this by radio to the allied. The are answering by sending off an expert group to analyze the situation. What they find, shows to be very frightening.

Monsters or not?
If you have played the FPS Far Cry, you are certain to know that a lot of players liked found it much more funny when the enemy was human, and there were no supernatural elements in the gameplay. At same time, some found that those elements added an extra dimension to the game, concerning both variation and gameplay.
The developers in Burut seems to have learned something from the discussions that have been going on about Far Cry, and in East Front you can choose yourself if you wanta realistic story or a more fantastic one. If you choose realism to fantasy, the supernatural elements of the game will simply disappear and you will fight to stop a devastating nuclear war. If you choose fantasy, everything gets more complicated by monsters and travelling in time.

What do you want to do now?
Another feature which seems inspired by Far Cry, is the use of non-linear maps. It is a bit different here; in every area of gaming, the player will get into a happening that forces him/her to make a decision. The decision he/she makes, will have a great influence for the rest of the time he/she spends in that part of the game.
An exciting detail is how the emotions of the maincharacter are influencing the gameplay. As the playercharacter have experiences those will affect his state of mind, and specific staets of mind will give positive and negative bonuses ans special possibilities. Mentioned are emotions like panic, hate, rage, desperation, inspiration and feeling helpless.
Besides this, the game claims to have a varied gameplay, with every aspect from carchasing and sneaking in the shadows. It also claims to have a complete interactive gameworld, built on a newly developed physics engine. East Front will also have simple RPG-elements, and it is possible to make your character to your own likings from the beginning. The game has more than 30 different non-gaming characters, close to 20 different weapons and nine big areas of gaming.

East Front really sounds promising. There is a wish that Burut is able to create a game that will work as well on a computer as it does on paper, and that they have learned a few things from the critics of the rather dull FPS "Kreed".

No, it is not. NAZIS is a common name on people who believed in the political thinking Hitler was the brain behind. It is short for Nazionalsosialismus, and has always been used to describe people who sadly enough believe in those thoughts. Like today in Europe, you have the Neonazis.
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

It's probably better to depict the bad guys as Nazis than as German.
More chances to be a success in Germany.
