The first information about Citizen Siege
Posted Dec 14th, 06:03am by Lace
Oddworld Inhabitants has revealed a bit about their next project, a game that is sure to make some controversy in the USA.

When games are called controversial, it is usally because of a lot of violence, or sometimes a bit of sex. Citizen Siege is different. It is neither violence nor sex which will cause the commotion, but a political message about the world today. The game will be about personal rights and how those are getting more and more limited, specially in USA.
The game takes place in a near future, and Lorne Lanning from Oddworld Inhabitants says in an interview, made in Computer & Video Games, that it ofers an intense gamingexperience, because it points on some important political decisions. Firther on he says he is expecting a lot of senators and congressmen will probably get annoyed over the game, and that Oddworld is not trying to avoid this. In fact they hope to create some angriness in the political surroundings, because the way the politicians in USA is acting is creating angriness at Oddworld Inhabitants.
For the moment, much isn't told about this project, besides that the game will be released for Xbox and PS2 (and Xbox2 and PS3). It will definately be exciting to follow the development of Citizen Siege; few games try to be something more than just entertainment, in spite of their ability to be a lot more than we see today. Lorne Lanning states:

- We want to make something that is relevant according to our culture. We are not afraid to show the darker side of what is going on.

At the moment the main priority at Oddworld Inhabitants is the next Oddworld-game, Stranger's Wrath. This will be released in March for Xbox (the PS2 version was cancelled).

I hated Oddworld, but this political game sounds interesting. I just hope it's more than a text based game. Is there a website with screens or something that we can get a more in-depth look at?
I have an itchy, irratable rash. It's RED.

A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
