Bet on Soldier
First-person shooter with a gambling/betting element. Bet on Soldier lets players challenge particular enemy soldiers by betting money on the outcome of their fight. When the allied soldier encounters this enemy in the game, a duel will take place. Depending on the outcome, the player will either lose his stake or win a prize calculated according to his opponent's rank, his initial stake, and the length of time it took to win. This mode is available during single player mode and forms the basis of multi-player mode. Every character in the game can use armor and shields. Battles are epic and spectacular, with armor disintegrating and shattering under the impact of bullets.
Peek into the Matrix
The Matrix Online is opening its data for a special preview.
If you've been eager to explore the virtual streets of The Matrix Online, an upcoming sneak preview event may be your golden (and green-tinged) chance. Warner Bros. Interactive and SEGA today announced a Sneak Preview of the MMORPG beginning March 12 at noon EST.
The preview, which reveals some of what happens after the Matrix film trilogy, serves as the final stage of beta testing for the game, which is scheduled for public launch March 22. For more information, click on over here.
Close Combat: First to Fight
Working closely with the US Marines, Destineer's squad-based Xbox and PC first-person shooter takes a different tack on the genre. Using four-man squad AI, with ever-changing morale that reacts to your skills (or lack thereof), and a robust command system that includes everything from opening doors and clearing rooms to sending airstrikes into machine gunner nests, First To Fight is a simulation that begs you to employ skill, military smarts, and gaming wisdom to beat its gradually ramped up single-player campaign.
"At a recent press event, we were able to get a hands-on look at both co-op and competitive multiplayer, and there have been some significant changes since last time. For one, the number of enemies has been largely reduced so that it feels more like a tactical situation instead of a shooting gallery. They've also apparently had some real-life Marines take a stab at the game (first to fight, after all), and those folks play extremely cautiously even in a virtual environment. So with such scrutiny, things feel a lot tighter, with some well-considered set pieces and encounters. Friendly fire is also on by default, so you have to be a little careful with the frag grenades and M203 launcher. You'll see all real-world weaponry, including SAWs, M16s, sniper rifles, and you'll have to consider accuracy, reload times, and lines of fire." - IGN
