Activision and id Software announce that Doom 3 multiplayer will be playable at QuakeCon 2003 in Dallas next month.
Activision and id Software have today announced that Doom 3's deathmatch mode will be playable for the first time at QuakeCon 2003 in Dallas next month. The annual multiplayer gaming event is being held at the Adam's Mark Hotel from August 14-17.
"What better way to celebrate QuakeCon than to unveil to our fans a preview of Doom 3 multiplayer," said Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software. "While everyone knows that Doom 3 is the most terrifying and scary single-player experience ever created, multiplayer delivers the intense competitive action that our fans can count on. It's a natural to debut the Doom 3 multiplayer experience at QuakeCon, the world's preeminent fan-based multiplayer gaming event."
QuakeCon attendees will get to play four-player deathmatch games on a level codeveloped by id Software and UK-based Splash Damage. A playable demo will be nice since:
Activision president Ron Doornink said DOOM 3 will be released in March 2004. Saying that for "planning purposes," the company has thus elected to postpone the release until after Christmas 2003.
Long wait since I really, really want this game!!! |

Just noticed this. I was thinking it would be before. At least with the game being played at Quakecon, we will find out more about it. Maybe see more than the same 3 screen shots. |

I bet the game is a hardcore lagger like UT 2003 and other stuff, but who can resist a game from the great DOOM series!? The game sounds great, I'd like it! |

The reason for delaying Doom3 could be one of two reasons...
It could be they need that long to get it ready...(they've had enough time already lol)
It would be commercial suicide in my opinion to try and go up against Half Life 2 and Halo. Everyone is going to buy those two games... |
